The Light Side

It was my wife's birthday yesterday. She had a relaxing day; we went shopping for her birthday present at her favourite jewellers Y in Corfe Castle, but came home empty handed and disappointed as there was nothing that took her fancy

We spent the evening watching DVDs (Yes Man and Changeling).

I cooked dinner last night for my gorgeous wife.



We started with felafels and cous cous (and yes I photographed them )









then for main we had steak with monster mushrooms and rustic chips









and for pudding we had strawberry and cream cookies with strawberries and chocolate ice cream (yes that is ice cream on the plate)

It was really nice, even if I say so myself

As a romantic gesture whilst on our holiday in Madrid I bought a lovely Swarovski heart pendant.

It wasn't till we got home and Julia went into a Swarovski shop to ask if they had any alternative necklaces for it, that it was pointed out that it was actually for hanging in the window and not actually a necklace!



the idea is that you hang it in the window and the sunlight catches it, projecting lovely rainbow patterns

Halloween was an eventful day for us this year. Julia's car which broke down the night before started again and I managed to drive it to the garage (although it broken down again on the garage forecourt). My son forgot to take some money for bus fare so couldn't get a bus home from Study Club - unfortunately with all the road works (the main Sandford road is shut this week) getting anywhere near Wareham is near on impossible around 16:30 which is when he rung us to pick him up; so he went to our friends Leslie and Andy, so that Leslie could bring him across to home on her way to helping Julia with Guides. Unfortunately Andy has toothache so she ended up not going to Guides. Only having one car put paid to my son and I seeing the pre-release of 30 Days of Night (a zombie movie), so we stayed in a watched part of a horror movie at home once I'd picked him up from Andy and Leslie's.

No trick or treaters this year, so the Halloween fun was left to the Guides who all dressed up, including Julia.

Packing the wife and daughter off today. They're off to a guide's camp until Thursday. Hope the weather holds up for them
