Whacky news, humour, music, life

Police in suburban Philadelphia say a man fed up of children playing in his cul-de-sac blared a pornographic soundtrack to chase them off.
Irate neighbours told police they could hear the sexually explicit audio a block and a half away.
Police say Michael Buck faces a felony obscenity charge and two misdemeanours for the May 31 stunt at his upscale Phoenixville home.
The 27-year-old Buck has a preliminary hearing scheduled for next month. Detective Tom Goggin says Buck had filed one previous complaint about the neighbourhood children. He says the children clearly annoy Buck - but there's nothing criminal about playing outside.
Classical music would have chased them off even faster and just maybe the neighbours wouldn't have complained.

Westboro, Ottawa, music
With all the excitement of Bluesfest, I almost forgot about our own street party coming up in June.

Every year Richmond Rd. is closed to traffic and people take over the streets; this year is no exception.
Westfest happens JUNE 12–14 and features some great local talent in music, writing and dance.
Last year it was a bit of a wet weekend, but that didn't stop us from partying.
Jenn Grant is the draw for me this year. There's just something about her voice that soothes even the worst day away.
Gotta love the freebie neighbourhood party. Particularly when its only a block away!

Bluesfest, Ottawa, Lineup, music
So far so good!
This years lineup for
Bluesfest was announced at noon today. There's more than a few nights I'll be sitting there groovin' to the tunes.
These are just a few of the performers on the main stage. This year they've added another stage making a total of 8. Talk about having ADHD. Those two weeks I'm going to be pretty hyper.
Where's my face paint?

Bob & Doug, The Original Hosers.
Started almost accidentally to mock Canadian content rules, these beer guzzling, back bacon-eating Canadian hosers attained massive popularity.
For your listening pleasure - Bob and Doug McKenzie's The 12 Days of Christmas - and oh eh the lyrics are like here too.

world news, history, music
On this day in history, December 10th, 1963 Louie Louie by The Kingsmen was on top of the charts.
Over the years a lot has been made out of such a simple tune, but nothing like the original trouble it caused when it was released.
