WTF, whacky, news
It's getting harder and harder to find funny news stories, even harder to find a "good news" story. With all that's happening in the world it appears that only doom and gloom is being reported and even when there is an almost funny type story - somebody is still getting hurt.

Take this for example. Recently in Sweden a Japanese pop star was beaten up and robbed, what makes this story funny? The guy was dressed as a pineapple!
Police say a Japanese pop star dressed up as a pineapple has been robbed while shooting a music video in southern Sweden.
Police spokesman Bo Paulsson says three young men beat up 41-year-old Hideki Kaji and robbed him of camera equipment as well as about C$3,000 in cash late Saturday.
Paulsson says the pineapple-clad artist had been left alone with the equipment while the camera crew went for a break.
Not exactly funny, the pop star was left with a cut lip and the loss of a dental implant, police have no leads. Dressed as a pineapple? WTF was he thinking?

Police in Detroit have ruffled some feathers after they cracked down on an organized pillow fight at a downtown park.
The Detroit News newspaper reports police at Campus Martius Park prevented the feathery fight Saturday by disarming pillow-toting participants.
The bout was part of a worldwide event organized on social networking websites.
Michael Davis says police confiscated the 32-year-old man's pillows but returned the cases. He says he was told he needed a permit. Scott Harris of Ferndale told the News it's "not illegal to own a pillow."
Detroit police spokesman James Tate says cleanup was the issue. What a crock!

Workers at a Tim Hortons in New Brunswick had to do a double-double take after a drive-thru customer placed an order in the nude.
Police officers were called to the coffee shop in Saint John's north end after reports of a naked driver.
The women working at the drive-thru window were not impressed.
And that's about all I can find for news you should have read and probably missed. Got a great news story? Let me know, good news is always appreciated.

eco friendly, WTF, news
Seems everyone is jumping on the eco friendly bandwagon if there is a buck to be made.
Something tells me I wouldn't want to be drinking alcohol that was 100% recycled.

WTF, life, news
It's a great day, despite the overcast sky, the sloppy wet streets and the fact that it's still a work day; today is a great day.
I'm one of those people that likes it when the little guy wins and today I learned that a hard working guy won. what did he win you are probably wondering, $12.5M a chunk of the last lotto draw.
After 30 years of hauling crab off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, Earle Smith was ready to retire and now not only can he retire but he can pretty much do anything he wants. At 53 years of age when asked what he was going to do, Smith responded "I'm retiring from crab fishing and I'm going to fish in the rivers for salmon ... for pleasure".
There's been a couple of articles in the news about a coffee shop in Maine. Apparently cup size means a bit more than how much coffee you get. You see this is a topless coffee shop and the neighbours are going crazy raising a stink.
Servers are topless at the Grand View Topless Coffee Shop, which opened its doors Monday on a busy road in Vassalboro. A sign outside says, "Over 18 only." Another says, "No cameras, no touching, cash only."
What makes this story worthy of news is not the shop itself or that the waitresses and waiters are topless, it's the simple fact that 150 people applied for 10 job openings. Donald Crabtree the shops owner had a tough time whittling down the applications to just the 10 people he needed.
Its tough getting a job out there.
Just in case you haven't seen this yet!

world news, beijing, life, china
...
Alrighty - so I'm sitting at home drinking coffee and wondering what I should do today; and it comes to me. I'm going to do absolutely nothing. Sure I might read the news or maybe finish off a book, but other than that - I'm not going to break out a sweat over anything.
The phone is turned off, e-mail shut down and if I really feel the need I'll turn off the computers as well. You see, I've been working way too hard lately, long hours of research, longer hours writing and ever more hours developing the training materials I need.
Yes - today is my day.

A 13-year-old boy apparently hot-wired a public bus and took it on a joyride in downtown Beijing. It sure won't be his day when his parents get a hold of him.
Xinhua News Agency says the student jumped into the driver's seat of city bus No. 404 while it was parked at a terminal, apparently started the bus without keys, and sped off while the driver was in the bathroom.
He zigzagged through Sunday morning traffic in Beijing's eastern Chaoyang district, first hitting a car and a minibus. When the driver of the car got out to talk to him, the teen reversed and crashed the bus into 10 parked vehicles, sending one crashing through the front of a clinic. He also knocked down two power poles.
"It was like watching a blockbuster movie when I saw the bus crashing into cars like a bulldozer," said Liu, a man who runs a shoe-repair stand near the scene of the crash. Liu was having breakfast when he said the bus came charging toward him like a "dancing dragon".
Never saw a dragon dance - but what the hell.
So how's your day going?
