news, weather, snow, Ottawa
What a day - 20 cm of snow and it's turned to freezing rain overnight. Driving was terrible today, Wednesday morning is going to be even worse!

As of 12:01 AM tonight the cities transit system is on strike; more than 2,200 OC Transpo drivers, dispatchers and maintenance workers are walking off the job.
Convoys of extra cars are expected to clog Ottawa's roads and with a storm underway it should make life real interesting when the rain switches back over to snow.
I won't be going anywhere for the next little while, besides the lack of a bus - it's just too snowy outside.

weather, city, winter, humour.
Winter storm warning in effect. Tonight..Rain changing to snow at times heavy and blowing snow this evening. Snowfall amount 10 to 15 cm. Wind northwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 increasing to 50 gusting to 70 late this evening.

Not even November yet and the snow begins.
What always makes me laugh about the first snowfall is ...the paranoia that ensues. This is afterall Canada, it does snow and yes this happens every year. The amount of news coverage on both the TV and radio is ridiculous.
Earlier today the city announced that all the snow plows are ready to clear the streets and even before the snow started they were out and looking for something to do. Regularly city hall complains about a lack of funds and here they are sending out plows!
The forecast for Thursday is sunny and +6, Friday ...+12 so why do we need snow plows on the road when it will all melt?

weekend, change, weather, life
Just sing along with Bowie on that one.
I feel changes coming up on my layout here. I'm not sure what yet, but they are coming. For a weekend where the weather gods predicted rain it wasn't too shabby out at all.
Back to the gring tomorrow. I'll be teaching a client to maintain their web site using Dreamweaver and hopefully I won't have to look at the site again after I finish. The rest of the week is wide open for me, lots of playing outside I hope.

city life, Ottawa, weather, Canada Day
I decided to get outside and away from here today, despite the wet weather I was off for a walk.
Normally when I head out I always have a specific place I want to go to, today however I just wanted away from the machines and the ringing phone so I just let my feet take me where they would.

The weather hasn't been all that great lately, lots of rain, showers, storms, high humidity and of course more rain. The few hours of sunshine that we've had during the month of June could probably be counted using fingers and toes or at least it feels that way.

Gladiatress, movie, Ottawa, weather
I've noticed that the hotter it gets, the more I want to just turn off the brain and do as little as possible; that includes thinking. So tonight with the temperature hovering around the 28 degree mark and the humidex making it feel more like 35 degrees, was no exception.
I do have two web sites to get online and curriculum to write for an Adobe Acrobat course but I just don't have the energy or desire to do any of it. Instead I sat in front of a fan and watched one of the dumbest movies ever made.
Gladiatress produced in 2004 is a spoof of the
Gladiator movie starring Russel Crowe. With a tag line of "Does my gluteus maximus look big in this?" I knew this was the movie for my current mood.
As long as you don't expect too much from this flick, you'll get a laugh out of it. If you are looking for historical accuracy and brilliant performances this isn't the movie for you.
The story is a simple one, three sisters (Smirgut the Fierce, Dwyfuc and Worthaboutapig) set out to save Celtic Britain, by thwarting the Roman invasion.
The adventures are silly, some of the jokes crude, all in all worth a rental.
