My Day

, , , ...

Alrighty - so I'm sitting at home drinking coffee and wondering what I should do today; and it comes to me. I'm going to do absolutely nothing. Sure I might read the news or maybe finish off a book, but other than that - I'm not going to break out a sweat over anything.

The phone is turned off, e-mail shut down and if I really feel the need I'll turn off the computers as well. You see, I've been working way too hard lately, long hours of research, longer hours writing and ever more hours developing the training materials I need.

Yes - today is my day.

A 13-year-old boy apparently hot-wired a public bus and took it on a joyride in downtown Beijing. It sure won't be his day when his parents get a hold of him.

Xinhua News Agency says the student jumped into the driver's seat of city bus No. 404 while it was parked at a terminal, apparently started the bus without keys, and sped off while the driver was in the bathroom.

He zigzagged through Sunday morning traffic in Beijing's eastern Chaoyang district, first hitting a car and a minibus. When the driver of the car got out to talk to him, the teen reversed and crashed the bus into 10 parked vehicles, sending one crashing through the front of a clinic. He also knocked down two power poles.

"It was like watching a blockbuster movie when I saw the bus crashing into cars like a bulldozer," said Liu, a man who runs a shoe-repair stand near the scene of the crash. Liu was having breakfast when he said the bus came charging toward him like a "dancing dragon".

Never saw a dragon dance - but what the hell.

So how's your day going?

Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus ...

, , ,

and he is in China!

The world's largest Santa Claus snow sculpture is being built if it hasn't been completed already in Harbin, China.

Every year the city plays host to a world-renowned ice festival. But the effects of global warming are taking a toll as the snow and ice now melt more rapidly than in the past. This year snow had to be manufactured for the giant Santa.

An estimated 800,000 tourists, 90 per cent of them Chinese, are expected to visit the ice festival, said Jia Yan, director of the local tourism bureau.

Santa is 160 meters long and 24 meters high, complete with flowing beard and hat.

According to Tang Guangjun, one of the sculptors.

"It is even bigger and higher than last year's"

The festival runs from mid-December to early February.

Now that's one big Santa!

Chen Zhun

, , ,

I've said this before and I'm saying it again - I spend a lot of time online. If I'm not working online, I'm researching or I'm preparing the next bunch of video tutorials, or and this is my favourite part I'm looking at some of the things that people send me to look at.

Yes there are definitely some odd things but there are even more great and wonderful things.

Take for example a Chinese photographer by the name of Chen Zhun.

Here for your Sailor Moon type fantasy is a Chen Zhun anime style photo set. You tell me - are these girls genetically modified or is it Photoshop that gives them the long legs.

Looking for more of his photos, then be sure to visit either Chinese Tools or his Linked In page. Some photos may be considered NSFW.
