Ah YES Summer

, , ,

One of the coolest sites I've ever come across is English Russia. Why cool? You may ask, well I like the mix of old and new lifestyles and all the photos.

From "Summer Has Come" here's a preview

Summer isn't quite here yet!

Language is ever changing, unless its Latin and in order to keep up with the times most dictionaries add new words on a regular basis.

This year of course is no exception, but you wouldn't believe the words being added to the Oxford English Dictionary this time around.

Heaven help us!

Blood Pressure

What a day!

I've been reloading software into my laptop the past couple of days, the hard way. Seems that after updating the BIOS my recovery disks became useless; but that's not what this is about.

Normally I watch the news at 6:00 PM almost religiously, even though most of it bores me to tears or it just depresses me. Lately though I haven't bothered with watching television at all and honestly I'm not missing it.

There are far more interesting things to be doing.

News coverage online is far better without the silly people reading it to you.

Crooked politicians, wasted tax payer dollars, overpaid cry baby hockey players, gold missing, apologies for speaking your mind in this politically correct world; it never ends.

No apologies from me for this, I'm about to speak my mind.

This country, Canada, does not need a $20 million dollar inquiry into ex prime minister Mulroney and Karlheinz Schreiber's business dealings. We all know Mulroney was and is a crook. How do you accept $300,000. dollars in cash handed to you secretly and then prove it was all innocent. Particularly when you don't declare it as income for 5 years and only then because this inquiry made it public!

Lyin' Brian as he is known earned that nick name by living up to it. Too bad this inquiry isn't able to lay criminal charges!

Danny Heatley of the Ottawa Senators hockey team wants out of Ottawa. Trade me or else he says! Screw him, let him go and good riddance just another overpaid, under worked cry baby thinking he's God's gift to us all. Personally I don't think any player on any sports team is worth the millions they get paid.

The Royal Canadian Mint is calling in the mounties to help find their missing gold. Seems they've misplaced, lost, or simply screwed up in their book keeping and don't know where to begin. Brian's back in town - check his pockets!

John Baird our illustrious loud mouthed transportation minister ended up having to apologize for saying something everybody wants to say and few have the guts to. In a private conversation overheard (eaves dropped) on by media he said

"Twenty-seven hundred people (municipalities) got it right. They (Toronto) didn't. That is not a partnership and they're bitching at us," Baird was overheard saying. "They should f--- off."

Hey Toronto - f--- Off, you aren't the centre of the universe - live with it.

With all the BS in the news, not watching it is probably a whole lot better for my blood pressure.

Up and Coming

, , , ...

I finally got a little down time. I've been reading, writing and of course travelling the world all while sitting at my desk. Credit goes to the internet for that, I can zip from one country to another without ever whipping out a passport. I kind of miss having the pages stamped, but I can live without it.

What I have found recenly are a couple of very interesting photography web sites. The two that I'm going to tell you about are "up and coming" almost arrived and very imaginative in the work they produce.

Up early this morning, prepared, packed up and ready to go speak to a group of people about accessibility. Today I figured would be like the rest of the many speeches, examples and demonstrations that I've given over the past three months.

Was I ever wrong!

Just how can you speak about the importance of accessibility to a group that considers itself to have done everything they possibly can. Everything that is but make files accessible. More and more I've found myself running into groups that are not willing to follow the most basic of steps simply because they believe it adds to their work load.

I've never been a fan of government employees, under worked - under qualified and over paid beings that they are; this bunch was beyond hope.

The power of the Web is in its universality.
Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect.
