Beer Goggles - Fact or Fiction?

, ,

Beer Goggles

According to the Urban Dictionary, "Beer Goggles" are described as follows"

Phenomenon in which one's consumption of alcohol makes physically unattractive persons appear beautiful; summed up by the phrase, "there are no ugly women at closing time"

But is this fact or fiction?

Proof positive - Beer Goggles are indeed FACT!!

State of Affairs

, , ,

Finding funny in the news lately hasn't been all that easy to do. Maybe I need a couple of new links to find the humourous stories. What I have been finding a lot of are stories of stupid people.

For example this lovely little story about a mother who let her 12 year old daughter drive the other kids to daycare.

A woman accused of letting her 12-year-old daughter drive three siblings to day care has been fined nearly $1,000.

Angela Parenteau entered a no contest plea to one count of criminal endangerment Thursday in Municipal Court in Great Falls, KFBB-TV reported. Three other criminal endangerment charges were dropped under a plea agreement.

Prosecutors say in March, Parenteau allowed her daughter drive three younger siblings from their house in Vaughn to a day care about 15 miles (25 kilometres) away in Great Falls. Police say Parenteau claimed she was too sick to drive and on medication.

The state said it agreed to the plea agreement because the 12-year-old girl did not want to testify against her mother.

Is there anything dumber than letting a 12 year old drive? Okay letting an 11 year old would be even dumber.

According to our glorious leaders ...all around the world the economy is picking up and everything is good again. Tell that to this enterprising young fellow.

From what I know - that's a bargain.

I can find loads of dumb research and ridiculous government funded studies online; this latest is a fine example of both ridiculous and government funded.

Willy Wonka would be horrified. Children who eat too much candy may be more likely to be arrested for violent behaviour as adults, new research suggests.

British experts studied more than 17,000 children born in 1970 for about four decades. Of the children who ate candies or chocolates daily at age 10, 69 per cent were later arrested for a violent offence by the age of 34. Of those who didn't have any violent clashes, 42 per cent ate sweets daily.

The study was published in the October issue of the British Journal of Psychiatry. It was paid for by Britain's Economic and Social Research Council.

The researchers said the results were interesting, but that more studies were needed to confirm the link. "It's not that the sweets themselves are bad, it's more about interpreting how kids make decisions," said Simon Moore of the University of Cardiff, one of the paper's authors.

Moore said parents who consistently bribe their children into good behaviour with candies and chocolates could be doing harm. That might prevent kids from learning how to defer gratification, leading to impulsive behaviour and violence.

Even after Moore and colleagues controlled for other variables like different parenting skills and varying social and economic backgrounds, they found a significant link between childhood consumption of sweets and violent behaviour in adulthood.

Previous studies have found better nutrition leads to better behaviour, in both children and adults.

Moore said his results were not strong enough to recommend parents stop giving their children candies and chocolates. "This is an incredibly complex area," he said. "It's not fair to blame it on the candy."

Just a pile of non-sense and of course more studies are required. You have to make up something to keep your job.

Halloween is coming up!

Looking for a funny or obnoxious costume idea? Then look no further; I have found you the link you need. Prank Place has a large assortment of costumes and other junk to play with. Check them out for yourself and have a chuckle.

Until next time.

Silly is Good

, , ,

Many of you know - I am a fan of "different", you could say odd-ball items and news. Some of my favourite things are way out there and I prefer funny, happy or just plain silly news. There aren't enough laughs in the world and if I can find them, I'll share them.

Everyone has seen the garter belt cans, if you haven't just follow the link to the original article I found this at.

Interesting can isn't it. Advertisers pulled out all the stops on this one. There's only one little problem I can think of which side do you "pop" first and if I get greedy and go for both will it end up spilling all over?

You can find more specialty cans over at DJMICK. No clue if any are photoshopped, chances are a few will be but they are still interesting.

… we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.

Winston Churchill

Looks like he isn't giving up either.
Never surrender!

Everybody remembers this - it's just a lamp.

..or is it?

The truth is out there!

Someone with way too much time on their hands has discovered the truth about "The Lamp". Yes folks that ever pressing question, the one that has been on your minds for a couple of years; has finally been answered.

It isn't just a lamp.

Glad to have taken that nagging question off your mind.

Until next time - have a great weekend.

Random Nuttiness

, , ,

Is nuttiness even a word? Who cares!

Perusing the INTERNET, you can, at least once every five minutes can come across something totally freakin' out there. I'm no exception.

Here for your viewing pleasure and enlightenment (yea that's it, enlightenment) are a few fine examples of just plain dumb.

Starting off with something simple first, here we have the Seal N Save Food Storage Kit.

A bunch of plastic bags and a reject air pump from a balloon factory. All this can be your's for the low low price of only $14.99.

Just place food in the special reusable bags, tighten seal with clip & pump the air out. Use for foods stored in the fridge or freezer. It prevents freezer burn for up to 2 years

Who keeps food for 2 years?

The latest and one of the worst fashion crazes - Jackets made of Blow-up dolls. Is it just me or does any one else find this idea more than a little creepy?

“I customize existing tracksuit tops with parts of the blow-up dolls: the head, the breasts, the vagina, the anus. These dolls are so ugly and vulgar that turning them into something beautiful has become a challenge for me. The doll is a means to convey something else.”

Something tells me this designer Sander Reijgers is very lonely man.

Acress Kirsten Dunst was recently spotted dorking it up in Tokyo.

I won't pretend to understand this cos-play thing - whatever floats your boat.

More photos of Dunst being dorky

That's about all I can put here on a "PG" rated blog.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Silly News

State police in Arizona aren't chuckling at a driver who triggered Phoenix-area freeway speed cameras more than 80 times in a year while wearing monkey or giraffe masks.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the driver is 47-year-old flight attendant named Dave VonTesmar.

But VonTesmar says authorities can't prove he's the one behind the wheel of his car, and he's vowing to fight every ticket.

By the time police realized the masked man's ploy, more than 50 tickets had been voided because the deadline for prosecution had passed. VonTesmar was served with a summons on 37 tickets last month.

Nearly 4,000 spectators turned out to watch San Diego's pets hit the beach for 'the world's largest dog surfing event'.

The dogs were taking part in the 4th annual Surf Dog Surf-a-Thon in order to raise money for a local animal shelter. The surfers rode waves at North Beach, also known as Dog Beach, in California.

'What could be more fun than playing with your dog in the water?'

Dozer, a 75-pound, 3-year-old bulldog, took first place in the second heat of the extra-large category. He has been surfing for only a year.

A secondary school is forcing all girls to wear trousers because their skirts were getting too short and revealing.

The decision to change the uniform policy was made after complaints about the rising hemlines of pupils.

Fashion-conscious teenagers from Bingley Grammar School in West Yorkshire were even rolling up the skirts to expose more leg and catch the attention of boys.

'There were some complaints from the community and parents were asking for this to be changed because they felt their daughters were increasingly vulnerable.

'A lot of parents brought it to our attention and I think it takes away that peer pressure.'

Got to love the way the world works ...sometimes.
