Up and Coming

, , , ...

I finally got a little down time. I've been reading, writing and of course travelling the world all while sitting at my desk. Credit goes to the internet for that, I can zip from one country to another without ever whipping out a passport. I kind of miss having the pages stamped, but I can live without it.

What I have found recenly are a couple of very interesting photography web sites. The two that I'm going to tell you about are "up and coming" almost arrived and very imaginative in the work they produce.

Angles

What makes an interesting photo? Is it the composition, the subject, the light, or could it be something entirely boring like the angle from which time was frozen?

There is a collection of photos that are quite interesting over at Curiosidades na Net that are worth checking out.

We all watch movies, everyone has seen them, few know the stories behind them; I'm talking about the movie studios logos.
I watch a lot of films, old or new makes no difference to me as long as the story is good and like most I may have noticed the logos but I've never paid attention to them.

Over at Neatorama there are loads of interesting posts but one that really caught my eye was called The Stories Behind Hollywood Studio Logos.

That Dreamworks logo, you know the one with the boy fishing on the moon; that boy's name is William. His story and more can be read in this brief history.

Aaron Goodman is an American photographer who over the past 13 years has created some incredibly interesting photos.

As a photo illustrator, his work has been featured in Time, Forbes, Business Week and many other magazines.

Check out his galleries at Aaron Goodman: Photo Illustrator and Photography.

Digital Artist Michael Oswald has some amazing Digital Women Puppet Illustrations - Half Robot/Half Women.

Many are familiar with his "Carve Your Own Destiny" image, a look through his gallery pages and you'll spot even more that have been used in advertising.

What makes his pages worth visiting are the "Before and After" images and the "Step by Step" methods he uses to produce his illustrations. For anyone interested in digital art, this is a great learning tool.
