. It's an origami construct - 20 identically-folded pieces of paper which fitted together to make it. I made it years ago when i did quite a bit of origami.

Probably the best part of a day. Folding the 20 pieces of paper was fairly time-consuming, fitting them together the right was even worse. But it was quite enjoyable

I have some smaller versions too made out of 8 pieces - 1 about the half the size of this made from paper, and 4 tiny ones about the size of a Cadbury's Creme Egg (made from orange card). The card ones were the fiddliest, but also the most robust. This big one needs a bit of maintenance to keep its shape.
