Tagged by an evil wolf

Thanks, Cois, for this delightful tag . Yes, I know I ignored it for over a week p:.

The rules :
  1. Link to the person who tagged you and curse their name :left:
  2. Post this list of rules
  3. Name 5 people, alive or dead, with whom you would like a dinner party with.
  4. Name your favourite artist or sculptor.
  5. List 2 things you'd like to change about yourself.
  6. List 2 things you like about yourself.
  7. List 2 things you're looking forward to in the future.
  8. Tag 3 people to do the same.

Let's see, five people...

  1. Robert Heinlein. One of the big three sci-fi authors, and in my view the best.
  2. Charles Berlitz. This guy has intrigued me ever since I read this book about fifteen years ago. He'd also help with the next guy.
  3. Mohammed. I'm just a little bit curious about what people who start religions might think of their modern day followers. I could easily have picked Jesus, but Mohammed is currently more...topical. I wonder how many of the hadith he'd look at and go "NO! That's not what I meant at all, you morons!" Homer: Doh!
  4. An unusual choice, Robert Mugabe. I'd put knock-out pills in his wine, then mail him to his best friend Peter Tatchell .
  5. For my final pick I'm going to bend the rules and choose Sherlock Holmes. Given that 58% of Brits apparently think he really existed , he stays :D.

Favourite artist or sculptor : M C Escher :D

Two things I'd like to change about me : I wish I was braver and that I procrastinated less.

Two things I like about me : I'm very honest and I'm quite glad that I'm very clever :D

Two things I'm looking forward to : A holiday, and the chocolate bar I'm going to buy after I've posted this p:

Three people to tag : maybe later...:left:

Five Jobs I'd Never Do

Thanks go to Kimmie and Cois for tagging me. It's my own fault - I still haven't wrought my revenge for last time and clearly there's no visible deterrent to this reprehensible behaviour :irked:.

p:

Anyway...(rules from Stomyr's blog)...5 jobs I'd never do and why.

1) Working in a Boots store. See, those stores sell perfume...and unlike some other places, the stores reek of dozens of them all mingling together into something that makes me physically nauseous. I avoid them whenever possible.

2) Gameshow Host. All those insincere smiles, the retakes, edits, the morons, the mistakes that show up on blooper reels for years to come? This won't always be fiction.

3) Anything medical, doctor, nurse, whatever. I don't have the temperament for it - I'm not good with ill people. Or to be more precise, I'm bad with people who I don't think are as ill as they make out.

4) Sports Commentator. How do they do it? To keep up an inane drivel for an entire football match? ("...and here's Giggs, picking up the ball on the left..."). To speak without a breath for a whole horse race? ("...it's Dodgy Curry, leading by a nose from Running Badger with Much Unpleasantness coming up on the inside..."). To manage to talk for an entire F1 race - "...and coming into the final turn, it's Rubens Barrichello..."?

5) Spammer/Virus Writer - aka Internet Parasites. Just not me. Making a living by pissing off millions of users, devouring over half the bandwidth, stealing from the gullible and the careless and screwing up millions of computers? I utterly despise these parasites, and I hope that very soon they start to get their come-uppance in the most cruel and painful way .

Now for 5 sacrificial lambs to help me lift the curse, let's see...:

:sst: you know, last time I was tagged I didn't post a story for three weeks afterwards :left:

Six Random Things About Myself (TAG)

Here are the rules:

Link to the person that tagged you.
(Cois, Tilla)

Post the rules on your blog.

Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.

Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.

Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Well, here goes...

  1. The first computer game I ever played was Ms Pacman on a tabletop arcade machine in Austria in 1983.

  2. I can wiggle my ears.

  3. For a few months as a kid, my favourite snack was raw carrot in lemon juice :chef:.

  4. I started using Opera nearly 7 years ago because Internet Explorer accidentally got blocked for a week at work. I've never stopped - even bought a license before it became completely free.

  5. People who never pay for music annoy me. Ok, download it for free, fine. But if you like it and keep listening to it, let the artist have some money! A similar thing applies with computer games/software. Don't give me that 'ripping off the evil corporation' crap - you're a thief :bandit:.

  6. I have a habit of turning around by spinning on the heel of my right foot. Apparently it's odd :left:

Now for some victims taggees :

Callya
Embry Hallowed
Phantom2
clean

and even though I know they've been tagged already...they haven't done the tag yet

Tagged! Again! :faint:

:sst: Didn't I used to write stories here?

Today's tag is Kim's new one. It is about inventions. Specifically, I am supposed to list 4 things that I would like invented and 4 things I wish hadn't been.
So, without further ado, here they are. Bear in mind I'm writing this after a stressful day .

Inventions I would like

1) An invisible cattle prod so I can jab people who never notice that there's somebody trying to get past them because they're either deep in conversation or deafening themselves with headphones.
2) A smell-alyzer for public transport, the idea being that people aren't allowed on if their BO is over a certain level, or they've used a whole bottle of perfume, started the day with 10 pints of beer, etc.
3) Infinite Storage. This one's a bit weird. I'm a hoarder - I have hundreds of books, DVDs and other stuff. I'd like something with the 'capacity' of the TARDIS but also with easy retrieval, ie a search engine for physical objects.
4) Corporate Email punishment. Here's the deal. Person X sends lots of emails to Person Y. Person Y identifies that many of these emails contain requests that are either too vague to understand without several email exchanges, or a waste of his time as Person X has all the tools themselves but can't be bothered using them. Person Y will assign each of these emails an 'WALOS' (What A Load Of Shit) rating from 1 to 10. When Person X has sent emails worth 100 WALOS, the internal email system notifies the punishment server, and next time that Person X presses a key on their computer a mild electric shock is received. Repeat offenders get stronger shocks. The WALOS score decreases automatically as time passes, to reward good behaviour.
I cannot think what inspired this one, and I do not have names in my head instead of Person X and Person Y.

Inventions I don't like

1) DVD Regions. Quite simply, fuck off. I'm English and I can't play a US DVD? I've got to wait until the Region 2 version comes out? :irked:
2) Software that fills your PC with crap when installed. Nerdy one, this. I don't want new Services, I don't want extra crap in Startup, I don't want you filling my registry with rubbish that should be in its own little DB, and I don't need an extra 20 hidden 'devices'.
3) Starforce copy protection. Ok, this can fit in 2), but it's such a bastard it needs its own category. I don't want the CD in the drive when I play a game, dammit!
4) Beer . I really dislike the stuff. I hate the smell, the taste, the way that it sticks your shoes to the floor if it's spilled, it's just generally :yuck:. I also dislike that they always fill it to the brim.

Now I must tag 4 people...hm...who haven't I tagged yet for a while?

OK, I'm tagging Mik, Fanny, Dennis (as he's on a bit of a run) and Mehran. Have fun, people

"5 Things I'd Like To See On Opera" Tag

, ,

Well, today's tag (arriving courtesy of Sugarwinx) is the '5 Things I'd Like To See On Opera' tag. It's supposed to be just the browsers, but a misinterpretation has led some people to include My Opera features in the brief.
I'm going to do five of each, so this will be a fairly hefty post.
Firstly, the browsers :

1) Opera for Desktop - Session Management
When I use Opera, I usually only use one window containing lots of tabs. When I use a session, I want it to relate only to one window and its pages. So, right now, I have 5 tabs in one window relating to My Opera. If at the same time I open one of my saved sessions it opens a new window(s) containing all the tabs in that session. If I save that session, it will include all the My Opera tabs as well. From my point of view, a session should relate only to one window and its tabs.
Additionally, the general session management should be improved so that you can see what's in them without opening them, rename them and also edit what's in them.
2) Opera for Desktop - Stopping Page Loads
This is something that bugs me as a dialup user. If I open a page, wait a little while and then realise it's loading about 5MB of pictures, I will usually close that page pretty quickly. As soon as I close that page, I expect the downloading of what's on it to stop instantly. It doesn't - it usually takes about 10 seconds before my connection is free to load other things. I suspect it has to finish loading whatever the last element was.
3) Opera for Desktop - Cache display
This one's real nerdy. I would like the display of the Cache to be improved so it can be sorted by file type, or grouped by domain. I would also like a filter implemented in a similar way to that in opera:config.
4) Opera Mini - RSS Feed Management
Firstly, I would like some way to Unsubscribe to several feeds at once - ie checkboxes and an Unsubscribe to Checked Items option. Secondly, at the top of a displayed feed is the Unsubscribe option. This is rather unforgiving if clicked accidentally - I would like this to have a Confirm option to appear. Thirdly, please restore RSS Feeds to the history view.
5) Opera (all versions) - Shared Bookmarks
I would like some way of using My Opera to store my bookmarks for the versions of Opera. The separate versions could interact with it, and overall admin could be done via a special page where you could designate certain pages as only relevant to a particular device's version of Opera. So, for example, every version I have has a link to Hotmail and My Opera. The two PCs I use have links to Indigo Puzzles. My phone and my home PC have links to my work email.

That's the browsers out of the way, now for My Opera.

1) Friends
This is probably picky, but I would like Friends on My Opera to be split into two categories - People I Like (added as friend but not reciprocated) and Friends (they reciprocated! :D).
2) Subscriptions
Please fix it that the Subscriptions frame doesn't tell me that I have no unread posts when I actually have over 20.
3) Shoutbox
Please make it so that the blog owner can access the archived items, and also so that smilies are displayed in it. Also, for the owner to be able to delete/edit them.
4) Hitslink
When are those of us outside the chosen few getting HitsLink stats accessible from our Account page?
5) Recent Visitors
Whether it's broken, erratic or I'm misinterpreting it I don't know. But I have comments on my blog which predate any Recent Visitor.

That's the lot. There could be more, but it's 00:45.

Finally, I'm tagging brojoy, rose-marie, st0le, Embry Hallowed and, because I'm curious what form his revenge will take, Cois.
