2009-06-27 Snow Patrol again

With about 45 minutes it has been a shorter gig than the concert one month ago, but what else can you expect from a free (festival) concert? Even though it has been just a great event - one more time!

Today Opera started a new service. It's already included in its latest Opera Browser version (Opera 10 beta build 1589).

Get ready to start your own servers! Share your files, your music and your photos directly with your favorite Opera Browser without having to upload them anywhere just in time!

Try it and add a message to my fridge! :D

Swiss-German or anything else? ;-)

, , ,

It's really lovely if you don't understand a single word. Hopefully this will change till fall. And no, I'm not talking about Swiss-German because I (believe that I) do understand that (meaning Swiss-German but not the following  ): Listen to the music

2009-05-26 Snow Patrol live in Vienna

, , , ...

Two days after the AC/DC concert Snow Patrol has been visiting Vienna. I've been lucky enough to get tickets and I'm still captivated and enchanted by the magic of the show and the music. It was just THE concert of the year and I'm looking forward to see them again in just one month at the Donauinselfest and probably next year at the U2 concert as - officially - supporting act Homer: Doh! Well, why not. The U2 tickets will be pricey enough for getting this addon "for free".

I got two videos (sorry for the bad quality, but the camera already became older without getting new features  ). The first one is Snow Patrol's hit "Run", which has been covered by Leona Lewis shortly. I started recording after Gary's first try, which he had to cancel because he didn't get the lyrics right in the first place *lol* This just made the concert more personally because of his reaction and the following reaction of the audience. It was a moment to take out the earplugs and to sing along with a couple of hundred people and the man with the guitar who has "forgotten" the lyrics :D Awesome, awesome, sooo awesome!

Unfortunately my camera ran out of space while recording the second video  Just wanna quote the one girl screaming: "SING IT!" :jester:

watch your facebook manners

As Facebook is the topic of the moment I just came across a really great video :D

personal fanclub: 60 members

, ,

One month ago I wrote about the Facebook-group, which has been founded by my dear uncle. With the help of some "friends" and colleagues of mine, some of his and some friends of my mother they really did it: They got 60 people to join this damn group... I haven't ever thought that they would let everybody (meaning totally strangers to me) join my "fanclub". But what can I tell? They did... Cheap victory IME...

And this after it's clear, that Facebook doesn't use the private data wisely from my POV.

Edit: After 87 in the morning it's now 101 members... :eyes:

After collecting questions presented by Opera-users and fans, it's been to Jon to answer those now. Really interesting for me (as I sent in a question which got picked to be answered) and I guess many others too

Opera history, what would you change?
By Jon. Tuesday, 28. April 2009, 14:46:48

If you get the chance to change anything in the Opera history, what would you change?

This is a tough one. Sometimes you do not have a choice. Personally I would have liked to provide Opera for free even earlier. We couldn't. However, we are seeing very significant growth in Opera users on desktop now, with 67% last year and 55% in 2007. We have also learned our lesson, which is why Opera Mini is provided for free. Enjoy!

Edit: See the summary for all questions arranged neatly!

questions for jon

, , ,

At the moment Opera is collecting questions which Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner is going to answer personally. Questions can be submitted via the forums. My Opera users are asked for voting for the most interesting/popular ones the day after.
So go on and submit your question or vote for already submitted ones: Get up close and personal with Jon.

My question is on voting till 24th around noon. At the moment it's in leading position. So the chances are good that I (and we) will get an answer

But if you got a minute take the time to vote for it and/or the other questions for day 3 here!

And if you're asking yourself which curious question came into my mind, here it is: If you get the chance to change anything in the Opera history, what would you change?
