It's always amazing to see how many people visit my blog. It's also interesting how they find my blog. While it's been my visit at Opera's and the article on the community page, which helped me to get more than 3.500 page views within the last 10 days, it's normally my photos and the Google-services through which my visitors make their way to my.opera.com/thobi

I often have a look at the counter at hitslink.com (whose service is included for free with every my.opera-blog!). Today I recognized, that the number of unique visitors hit the mark of 6.500 the last and the page views climbed up to more than 21.000. So I thought it's time to write something!
I think that's really amazing and I have to repeat what I usually tend to say: I don't know why all these people are coming here, but I appreciate the visit of every single one of those 6.519 :hat:

Thanks a lot!

Edit: ah, just found my blog entry from 6th of sep 2008 about the 100k visitors. not a year later it's already 150k :hat: (but having so many different numbers, i'm a bit confused now :ko: )
nothing against tamil's numbers, but hey, he's got the more informative blog than i do; especially for opera fans

After collecting questions presented by Opera-users and fans, it's been to Jon to answer those now. Really interesting for me (as I sent in a question which got picked to be answered) and I guess many others too

Opera history, what would you change?
By Jon. Tuesday, 28. April 2009, 14:46:48

If you get the chance to change anything in the Opera history, what would you change?

This is a tough one. Sometimes you do not have a choice. Personally I would have liked to provide Opera for free even earlier. We couldn't. However, we are seeing very significant growth in Opera users on desktop now, with 67% last year and 55% in 2007. We have also learned our lesson, which is why Opera Mini is provided for free. Enjoy!

See ChooseOpera for mine and more Q&A!

Edit: See the summary for all questions arranged neatly!

questions for jon

, , ,

At the moment Opera is collecting questions which Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner is going to answer personally. Questions can be submitted via the forums. My Opera users are asked for voting for the most interesting/popular ones the day after.
So go on and submit your question or vote for already submitted ones: Get up close and personal with Jon.

My question is on voting till 24th around noon. At the moment it's in leading position. So the chances are good that I (and we) will get an answer

But if you got a minute take the time to vote for it and/or the other questions for day 3 here!

And if you're asking yourself which curious question came into my mind, here it is: If you get the chance to change anything in the Opera history, what would you change?

spread the word - change the banner

, ,

Everybody's My Opera blog offers the possibility to automatically include the Opera banner. Just go to "My page" -> "Account" -> "Sidebars and menus" and activate the "Opera banner"!

There's already a standard banner, which will be shown if you don't change anything else. If you want to get another one, you've got to get an individual CSS-entry. Just head to your account-settings again and choose "Design". There it says "Select a design for your page from the list below, or add your own custom style sheet." Click on the words "custom style sheet", which is a link to your own CSS configuration. There you insert the following code into the text-field:

#getopera img { display:none; }
#getopera { display:block; width:240px; height:120px; margin:0 0 10px 0; background:transparent url(http://linktoyourimage) top left no-repeat; }

Just replace "linktoyourimage" with a working link, scroll down and choose "Use my custom style sheet together with the current theme" and click SAVE afterwards! That's it

If you don't have your own banner, EspenAO had enough time to make some for all of us   Just head to his blog and grab the link of the picture to put it in your code!

1001 comments challenge

Even if Opera is (far) away from being perfect (Well, I do know, that my requirements are not those of "normal" people  but Opera needs to get faster again as it's freezing too ofen. :frown: ), it's just a really great program  and I don't want to live without it! I'm sure, I'm not even able to hide my fascination, admiration nor my excitement to anybody surfing my blog. :D

Now Opera opens it's sack full of gifts (one more time), just to get YOUR opinion about what you like (most) about your preferred browser (just speaking of the Opera browser, if anybody should be thinking something else like... IE perhaps? Homer: Doh! monkey ). Everybody posting her/his oppionion will be on the list for the random drawings for different prizes from steelseries (btw: I've even got one of those flexible steelseries mousepads ). So, go ahead!

You'll find my list at the end of this post. Perhaps there's something in it, you didn't even know or you want to ask about or discuss. Feel free to post!

So let us continue to spread the word, :spock: make use of the FREE space we (and everybody else!) get(s) here and create, share, talk ... do whatever you want to do! :wizard:

:sing: That's the way aha, aha, I like it!

popular blog?

,

What is needed to have a popular blog?

First I'd say a certain number of visitors couldn't be bad. But I definitely know, that my blog doesn't attract that huge crowd of interested ones. So what else could it be? :left:

I really don't know the answer to this question. Perhaps you've got a clue? If you think so, please let me know. :wait:

While then I'd say it just needs a computer collecting you out of numerous blogs and puts you on a list in front of a blog post called "test" Homer: Doh! :headbang:

PS: Well, perhaps it's the blue beanie? :D

go for gold or thobi needs to be awarded ;)

james bond and opera gift pack

, ,

At the end of october there has been a James Bond quiz presented by the Prizes-group. Two rounds and a bag full of gifts. Well, today I got mine :hat: after eight days of travelling :eyes:
Thanks a lot to Opera!

PS: Don't ask me why the package had to take the long way around the world. *hm* Next time I'll send myself to CA instead of mail the other way
