kaufen sie oesterreichisch?

Wer heute für den Kauf "inländischer" Waren eintritt, fordert spätestens morgen, nicht mehr bei "Ausländern" einzukaufen. Nicht Protektionismus, sondern unsozialer Nationalismus.
Those advocating to buy "local" products will be demanding for not buying at the "foreigner's" by tomorrow at the latest. Not protectionism, but unsocial nationalism.

Sorry, I know, it's German again. But I think it's a really good article reminding of what demands for buying (only) local products - like "Buy American!", look for "Made in Britain" - could lead to. Not that it would be a bad idea to buy local products, but as the article tells, there are reasons why products from other countries get sold and should be bought.
Political parties also use these chance - talking about the financial and economical crisis - to make a step to hostility towards foreigners. And this MUST NOT be possible, and must not be accepted!

Well, lets "beam" a reporter's hologram into the mainstudio and be fascinated by it yourself again and again...

Just got a link to this video by a good friend of mine (thx2chiefhoerbi  ). Most of you know Jon Stewart and his daily show. I seldomly watch it, but this one fits to the video above and i think its worth watching anyway

hello mr. president

, , , ...

"Yes, we can!", "We believe!", "Hope" and "Change" have been the most frequently used words for the last months. Now it's finally over and many people feel relieved about that, as also about the result - even if it's not that clear.
Whereas just 52,4 percent of the US-voters raised their voice for Obama, he got 364 of 538 presidential electors (67,7 percent). Well, at least it's the majority this time

Mostly "the rest of the world" prefers the choice of Obama to electing McCain for the next "Mr. President". Lets see if the "hope" and expectations will be fulfilled or if Obama will just be another US-president...

While, what I read, the newspapers are sold out widely - even the NYT running 175.000 copies more than usual is gone - there's a museum of news in Washington, D.C. which got at least copies of also the current press. See some of the if you choose to "Read more..."

it ain't over 'till the fat lady sings

Relating to the US elections 2008 I read an article today, with the headline "It ain't over 'till it's over". Well, it's been a while since all this preelecting and money collecting has been started. But the good thing is, it will be over in 5 days from now
Coming back to my own headline: There's this other version of the proverb quoted above which has it's origin in a story taking place "near" my home at the Rhine river. But read more at Wikipedia.

Let's change the topic now to something even more funny  I found this at Elias Yemreli's blog. I already knew it but also already forgot the answers again. But see for yourself, if you'd have the correct answers if you'd be asked!

There are people emphasizing that McCain's candidate for the vice president, Sarah Palin, hasn't got enough experience in e.g. national security. But McCain's wife was able to resolve all doubts :D

Btw: I read that Palin requested her very first passport at the age of 43 :eyes:

paris hilton for president

, , , ...

Socialite Paris Hilton is getting even with John McCain, after he used her image last week in an ad mocking Barack Obama as an international celebrity.

Hilton released a Web video of her own Tuesday saying her inclusion in McCain’s ad must mean she’s running for president.

“So thanks for the endorsement, white-haired dude,” Hilton says in the ad, while sitting outside in a skimpy, leopard-print bikini. “And I want America to know that I’m, like, totally ready to lead.”

The tongue-in-cheek video is laced with age-based insults. Hilton may not be known for her trenchant wit, but the two-minute spot is a satirical blend — part “Daily Show,” part “Legally Blonde.”
