No, really, I'm under construction. I'm in a moment of great change and personal upheaval, like continents colliding. I'll get back to this.

My work

I work in sound for film. Film is a lie, a huge lie. Most interiors are inside a studio, but you still need the sound of the world outside the windows, for example. A factory scene will most likely be shot with the machines turned off to capture the dialog properly, but then someone has to put those machines in the background.
A seaside scene will most likely be re-recorded by the actors several months after the image was shot, and then the wind and the waves and the sand and the steps will have to be put behind the new dialog.
Punches, guns, jets, cars, or swords do not sound like they do "in the movies", *we* make it sound like you think they should sound.

And so on... It doesn't make pretty documentaries like CGI work, so most of you have no idea what I'm talking about.
