It’s now been 12 months since the release (via automatic updates) of Internet Explorer 7 (IE7). 79% of visitors to our client sites are using an Internet Explorer browser (a reduction of 3% from when last we posted stats 9 months ago). Firefox achieved a 14% penetration.

It’s been 3 months since the release (via automatic updates) of Internet Explorer 7 (IE7). 21% of visitors to our client sites are using the new browser version.
It is a slow take up in my mind. Clearly lots of people have automatic updates turned off. The recent release of vista will improve the take up. If you are a developer, be prepared to program for both IE6 and IE7 for some time to come.
General penetration statistics:
- IE6 61%
- IE7 21%
- Firefox 11%
- Safari 4%
- Netscape 1%
- Opera 0.5%
- Other (Mozilla, Camino etc) 1.5%

We have recently began submitting forms via AJAX rather than the traditional full page load approach. It is working very well. The challenge now though is to make this approach as accessible as possible and set focus correctly when the returned markup is rendered. So much to consider! But rather than discuss accessibility here, I thought I’d offer for general consumption some AJAX activity loaders for use in your next wizz bang application.

To re-create any of the above animated GIFs in the colour of your choice, follow these steps:
- open the animated GIF in ImageReady
- on each frame of the animation, add a colour overlay to the visible layer (blend mode = screen)
- preview in a web browser and then ’save optimised’ to create your ajax activity loader

Một cô gái trẻ, xinh đẹp đứng trên cầu, mặt buồn rười rượi, chuẩn bị gieo mình xuống dòng sông chảy xiết.
Có một chàng trai ào tới, giữ chặt tay cô và cầu xin một nụ hôn trước khi cô tự tử. Cô gái gật đầu đồng ý trao cho chàng một nụ hôn nồng cháy, cuồng nhiệt đến... rát cả lưỡi.
Quá cảm động, chàng trai quyết định phải thuyết phục cô gái từ bỏ ý định dại dột của mình:
- Em xinh đẹp và đáng yêu như vậy, sao lại muốn từ bỏ cõi đời?
Hai hàng nước mắt lã chã tuôn rơi trên khuôn mặt trang điểm cầu kỳ của cô gái. Cô nói trong tiếng nấc:
- Bố... em... mắng... và đuổi... em ra khỏi nhà.
“Đúng là phụ nữ, bố mẹ hơi nặng lời tí chút đã muốn quyên sinh”, chàng trai thầm nghĩ.
Cố gắng hôn thêm cô gái một cái nữa, chàng hỏi tiếp:
- Tại sao bố mắng và đuổi em ra khỏi nhà?
- Bố mắng và đuổi em ra khỏi nhà chỉ vì em hay đi chơi về khuya và...
- "Gì nữa hả em? Chàng trai hỏi tiếp
- Dạ, bố bảo em... giống con gái!
Nghe xong, anh chàng nhảy luôn xuống sông.

Ngày nảy ngày nay ở vương quốc nọ có 1 chàng hoàng tử rất ư là đẹp trai, chàng yêu một nàng công chúa đẹp tuyệt trần.
Nhưng khủng khiếp thay, chàng đang phải chịu lời nguyền của mụ phù thủy độc ác: chàng chỉ được nói 1 từ trong 1 năm.
Sau ba năm im lặng để “tích góp” chàng đã định gặp nàng để tỏ tình “Anh yêu em”. Nhưng yêu là một chuyện, còn lấy nữa chứ. Thôi thì cố nhịn, vả lại công chúa mới 15 tuổi, cũng phải thêm mấy năm nữa mới cưới được!
Thế là hoàng tử phải thầm thương trộm nhớ, gom góp thêm 5 năm nữa để dành dụm được tất cả 8 tiếng: “Anh yêu em, em làm vợ anh nhé”.
Hôm đó, chàng gửi mail hẹn nàng. Khi chàng đến nơi thì nàng đã ngồi đó tự bao giờ, chàng hồi hộp bước đến, quỳ xuống:
- Anh yêu em, em làm vợ anh nhé!
Nàng công chúa nhìn chàng bằng đôi mắt tròn xoe kinh ngạc, rồi nàng... rút headphone ra khỏi tai và nói:
- Anh nói gì em nghe không rõ! Anh nói lại đi.
Tiêu 8 từ rồi còn đâu nữa mà nói lại!!!
Bạn yêu quý, xin bạn đừng thất vọng, vì chàng hoàng tử thời nay có nhiều “vũ khí” hơn xưa nhiều lắm. Nghe công chúa nói thế chàng bèn rút chiếc máy ghi âm trong túi ra rồi tua luôn một tràng:
- Anh yêu em, em làm vợ anh nhé... Anh yêu em, em làm vợ anh nhé... Anh yêu em, em làm vợ anh nhé...
Nàng sung sướng ôm chầm lấy chàng. Họ yêu nhau, cưới nhau và sống rất hạnh phúc. Chuyện cũng được mấy năm rồi. Điều đặc biệt là mụ phù thủy thấy thế thì tức điên lên bèn bay đến hành tinh khác tu luyện! Vì vậy lời nguyền đã được hóa giải!

Và ngày cũng đã hết rồi. Cơn mưa chiều cũng đã cuốn đi 1 ngày qua...nhanh ghê ta! Ta lại trở về với ta..công việc còn dang dở còn bề bổn..tạm gác để nạp năng lượng...Mình cảm thấy nhẹ nhàng khi ngày đi qua!Có lẽ không phải bận rộn như bác nông dân phải thức khuya dậy sớm đi cho kịp chợ rau buổi sáng..hay như bác bảo vệ phải trực ca đêm...hay cô lao công đến ca làm...bởi ngày cũng mình quanh quẩn với máy tính và chỉ máy tính..có lẽ phải ôm nó cả đời này mất..."lưng gù tay dài...mắt trố cận 4+++..!"hìhì! Ngày hè mà cứ khó thể biết được cái tính khí của ông trời..hôm nay sao "tè dầm" nhiều thế...cả ngày..ngày mai lại nắng cháy sau lưng nắng đỉnh đầu cho mà coi...lạch cạch cơm ăn mà mắt lại dán máy..ngó ngó nghía nghía như đang xem 1 vật thể kỳ lạ..code..and code..servlet...DB2..và sẽ là gì...còn gì nữa...
