Chocolate & Strawberry Cream Cake

I was so inspired by the beautiful cakes on foodgawker.com that I want to make one myself. Last week, I attempted with the Coffee Cream Cake, although the cake tastes awesome, I didn't enjoy the decoration very much and I run out of the cream half way through. This week, after surviving from the huge finance test, I spent almost 4 hours on my feet, making and decorating this cake, dedicated to my old friend's birthday in Vietnam and for my hard group work.
The recipe for the chocolate cake can be found here: http://my.opera.com/trangskitchen/blog/choco-lover-moist-cake
For this cake, I doubled the recipe above and used two round baking pans to divide and bake the batter. After they were cool, I used a serrated knife to slide each round cake in half. So I have 4 layers. This cake in the picture just have 3 layers since I though 4 layers are two high for such a small-diameter cake.
For the cream, I just whipped up the heavy whip cream with some mascapone cheese. Arrange the sliced strawberry and then spread the cream between layers with a spatula. After placing the cake layers on each other, spread a thin layer of cream all over the cake surface, then add cream more generously to create a smooth outside surface. Finally, decorating with some cut waffles and fresh strawberries.
I have this lovely cake. I felt so satisfied with the cake but not the photos. I am still learning to take beautiful food photos though
