This cake is really an exciting project for me to do! It's an order from Linh (Ho~n) for her brother's birthday this Monday. She said that he likes the pig, so I made him a piggy family with all the cutest faces to celebrate his day of birth. I bet that he would be super surprised and love this cake a lot because I do too!
The base of this cake is a tiramisu because Linh requested that. The pigs are made of fondant. The house is covered by chocolate-coffee butter cream, my new favorite which I found out for Thao Nguyen's birthday cake. The roof is made of sliced mango. At first, I intended to make all of the decoration by fondant. But I know that Linh and her brother may not eat the fondant; therefore, I minimize the fondant use in this cake and make something much more edible.
You can find my Tiramisu recipe for which I use ladyfingers:
...but if you want to make the sponge cake on your own, then find the recipe here:
However, I like the filling of the first recipe much better than the second one, although the second one uses less eggs. Who care about sin when eating desserts?
In this cake, I arrange the ladyfingers in the house-shape with the filling in between layers. However, you can also make the sponge cake and cut it into layers and again, arrange it in house-shape. Then I crumb-coated it with more tiramisu-mascapone filling, finished it with the buttercream, and placed sliced mango on top for the roof. I also used the fork to create pattern for the house...and TA DA.....We've got a house with five little cute pigs. One of them is too shied to show his face haha...
