Gaming on my Gamecube!

, ,

Sure most Nintendo fans love the WII.
The WII is cool and has that WII-mote control.
It's this generations console.
It is backwards compatible with Gamecube games and has downloadable Virtual Console for older games.
But believe it or not not all of the Nintendo crowd has a WII or is planning to buy a WII.
I am one said person.
I've been a fan of Nintendo for years mind you.
From my days playing Duck Hunt and Dr. Mario on an NES system,to trying to beat my cousin at Donkey Kong Country 64 on Nintendo 64.
I adore Nintendo.
It's original games,lack of extreme violence,and consoles.
So it's no wonder I own a Gamecube still at my age.
My first one I bought back in late 2002.
It was indigo blue ad came with Luigi's Mansion.
Due to moving,I lost it and the game.
Only recently did I buy a newer one in jet black with controller for US $40.
I replaced Luigi's Mansion as well.
Actually, nowadays I have many more games in my stash than before!
My games included:

F-Zero GX
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Luigi's Mansion
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
Sonic Heroes
Crash Bandicoot:The Wrath of Cortex

I am still trying to get my hands on Zelda: Twilight Princes,Mario Strikers,Madden NFL 2008,Red Steel,Resident Evil 4 and Zero,Spongebob:Creatures from the Krusty Krab, and Donkey Kong Barrel Blast(Gamecube).
These games are the same as the Wii counterparts!
Only different is the widescreen mode and HD.
I use
Goozex,
Swaptree,and
Playerchain

Both are good systems for getting used games and goods with points or credits and not cash.
No items needed just lots of points to use.
I prefer to trade this way.
I got some new ones from Playerchain, and I'll say it works as well as Goozex does.but just a little slower.
Some of the users with games take awhile to reply to a request.
But then again, this is Summer and most are on vacation.

Swaptree is fast, but the games you get on there are the result of a good swap.
Not so hot if you lack items worth something you want.
Others also refuse to share at time too.

As for the Gamecube itself,I love it.
I can play Japanese game versions with Freeloader and Gameboy Advanced games with the Gameboy Player for Gamecube.
The Wii doesn't have that.
I have the jet black model of that and the black Gamecube with digital AV port.
Some same this version is rare to find or old from 2002.
I believe it is because according to the wikki it was removed in 2004.
I also have a Nintendo 251 memory card.
New Gamecubes are still around but hard to find.
The platinum model is the one mostly for sell now at it's original price.

Samsung S2 is the coolest pebble ever!

, , ,

I adore small MP3 players.
Currently I am listening to a 1st Gen iPod Shuffle again.
I am waiting until Apple goes 3 gig and offers better earbuds to get a new one you see.
That or the Zen Stone is released a nice metallic dark red.
C'mon Apple you can do it. I don't want the Nano. I don't like those players with video.
Not my thing. I like tiny basic players that look cute and sound expensive.
That's why I love the new Samsung S2.

It's small pebble-like look and 1 gig flash memory are a godsend.
There is .MP3,WMA.OGG,and basic ACC support via third-party.
DNSe sound is a cross between bad surround sound and bass boost.
Not that good with the earbus.
Compared to Apple's superior sound,it needs work.
It's like hearing my Malice Mizer tracks in a bathroom or a long hall.
The LED light flashes blue and aqua according to settings.
I adore the lanyard, but is it more or less another iPod Shuffle 1st Gen-like feature?
Must all flash players use this idea?
And lets not forget it's iPod Shuffle-like casing in clear plastic.
Samsung took Apple and Zen's ideas and put them together for the S2.
Inside you get all the goods.
Lanyard,earbuds,USB plugin connector,software,and a How-To booklet.
Nice.
Mine is black and glossy like polished onyx.
The Taoist side in me is happy.
It looks like a relaxation stone.
My skip key is sticking.
It skips two songs and not one.
VBR(veriable Bitrate) files of mine no less.
The S2 does have VBR issues as Samsung does issue as a warning.
My fault more or less too,as I do push the skip buttons a lot on these type units.
it has no built-in USB!
Instead it feeds it's data from the headphone jack to the USB 2.0 interface.
Well,it is tiny. But the Zen has one and we know the Shuffle always did.
This player is Windows supported and Samsumg's software is for XP and Vista.
As a Mac user,I did get Finder to see it in Tiger, but in Leopard I doubt it works.
But whatever,it's still wicked cool!
Not only that but celebs love it too!
Nicole Richie's baby daddy Joel Madden loves it so I hear.
And Ian Ziering is spotted in Star Magazine with one.
Celebs get first dips as do tech bloggers and reviewers.
I have one too.
You can find the unit on J&R,Amazon, for under $40.

DTV or DTTV?

, , , ...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The later video is for the deaf.

Well me and my mother made the switch yesterday.
She adore the better picture and sound.
I adore the fact that here in Cincinnati, only two stations are still analog.
Channels 25 and 38.
I also like the fact we can receive The CW free of charge without getting cable again.
I miss The Tube Network, which featured all CD-Quality music and video 24/7.
A lot of people are still using analog and the rest rushing to buy a DTV set-top box or a newer tv.
I have read so much about DTV.
The fact is it's really DTTV if you use an old CRT type analog set and a DTV converter box.
Here's more on DTTV: Info on DTV
Wikipedia info
If you readers here are still wondering what kind of converter to buy read up.
It all depends on your needs.
I use the Digital STREAM DTX9950 as does my mother.
Here in Ohio,it gives good performance.
Albeit,at times I get cliff drop.
Not bad though. And I am using an old two wire type antenna!
Since 90% of Cincinnati tv is now already digital,I no longer will watch the analog.
I'll use that for my DVD and game consoles.

MacGUICity. The return of Spymac?

,

I just discovered this incredible Mac community right on the old Classic.Spymac.com forum!
The lovely site was made by Dog Cow who is none other than D.Finnigan.
A young Asian web designer.
As we all know,Spymac is almost dead. We dedicated fans of the old Spymac hang our heads.
The new Spymac is not worthy of holding any term to 'Mac',as it is a slow Audio,Video,Photo hosting platform. Not unlike Youtube.
As of yesterday GadgetDon was supposed to be taking Spymac Club down.
But alas, the Spymac PTB(we use that term a lot)and him have decided that due to users not being formally informed we have until July 1st.
Read the original post here: http://classic.spymac.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=272144http://classic.spymac.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=272144
And the new follow-up: http://classic.spymac.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=272208
I'll say Macgui.comis the best Mac user community since Spymac.
The system runs on code similar to that of Gaia Online and PHPBB,and is a part of the Spiralweb network.
I for one love the free 1 gig webmail with Pop3,200mb hosting, and 400mb photo storage!
Blogging isn't half bad with pre-selected basic themes and things.
Forums, gallery, and more are all there in a virtual city-based layout.
Great alternative to Spymac with more to come!
