Oooops! indeed again, Google

,

Oops!

Sorry, your web browser is not yet supported.

Our programming wizards tried their darndest to get Google Page Creator to work with as many browsers as possible. But alas, even the most expert practitioners of web sorcery must sleep now and again, lest their JavaScript magic run dry.

So, for now, you'll need either to download a new version of Firefox or download a new version of Internet Explorer (Windows only), and then come right back.

Yup, you've done it again, Google. Your rhetoric cannot hide the fact.

You put Internet Explorer at the top of your priority list for the cynical reason that makes most webmasters do the same: Internet Explorer still has a huge majority of the browser market.

Then you put Firefox second on your priority list for two reasons:
  • Firefox presumably has a strong second place in your own visitor statistics.
  • There is some kind of close association between Google and the Firefox developer community.

And then, two or three years later, you may get around to having a look at other browsers. Perhaps.

We know it is like that, Google. And we are used to it. You do not need to gloss it over with some sugary salesman rhetorics.

Yes, I know: I have written elsewhere that it is unimportant how many visitors you get. But that does not mean that it is unimportant if people have a bad experience when they actually visit your blog. There is very good sense in trying to make it reader-friendly.

Robotic blog

,

Brett Tabke has presented an original idea: He has put a blog in the robots.txt file of WebmasterWorld.

Wouldn't it be easier and more user-friendly to use his membership of the Opera Community to create a blog? Perhaps, but evidently he is trying to make a point of some kind and has done it the way that he thinks is the best for this purpose.

Why have I created a category with my own name?

, ,

Is it a result of my egocentricity? No, it's just a bit of SEO. Originally the category was named me, but I decided that this was not a particularly interesting word from any point of view.

Why do I want to perform well in search engines for my own name? I don't, really. But there are people who for their own very selfish reasons very much wish me to be completely invisible and forgotten. I have no intention of accommodating them.
