Fading into silence

This blog is dying from indifference. Mine, and that of its potential readers.

There was a time when it was possible for me to nurture the illusion that my writings here, somehow, mattered. Not so anymore.

Did someone just send me a love letter from very far away?

The readers

Yes, I do have readers. Perhaps only few, but then it's not the number that counts and motivates me to attempt putting words together.

Oh, the irony

It must be said, that my own attitude to my recent activities here at My Opera contains a not insignificant portion of self irony.

Equinox

,

BrigtestVega beat me to it. I had thought about reminding my readers of equinox which happens Monday for most of us and early Tuesday for members in New Zealand, Australia and some parts of Asia and Oceania. And I would have suggested some kind of "meeting".

But BrigtestVega was first. Perhaps because for her it is an even more significant time than for most of us: It is the Iranian New Year.

So what if you want to do something about it? You may follow BrightestVega's suggestion and write a wish or a message to her. Or you may join me and others in your mind at the exact time.

If it is in daytime at your location it ought to be easy to direct your attention to the sun. And if it is evening or too early morning you might do it a bit differently. The sun is so powerfull a presence in the life of all of us that it ought to be easy to think of it even when it is not visible.

Also open your mind to those friends that you have here in the Opera Community. And of course those people who are important in your real life. You do have a life, right?

So when is the exact time? 18:26 UTC (same as GMT). Which means 19:26 for me, and for the Opera headquarter and many members in Europe and Africa. For my friends in Eastern Europe and in South Africa it will be 20:26.

My friends span all the time zones from New Zealand where equinox will be Tuesdag morning at 7:26 (summer time) to Hawaii where it will be Mondag morning at 8:26.

There is another aspect to it which is very important for some of us. In the northern hemisphere it will be spring equinox while in south it will be autumn equinox. May add a bit of confusion for those who have dear ones in the other hemisphere.

No more whispering?

Do you use the whisper function? Beware. Those texts that are intended for one person or perhaps a small group of persons, may in fact be more public than you imagine.

This morning I answered comments to three new blog posts. Then I visited the list of last commented blog posts to see if they showed there. They did. And they gave me a bit of an eye-opener. Two of them showed a whispered text in the text snippets.:yikes: I reported the incident. And later I experienced the same problem with another post.

It's not that I wrote something that I would be ashamed of saying in public. It's just that it was written for one pair of eyes. And apparently it was visible for many others. And showing in such a way that the precise meaning was confusing. Some of those others may have misinterpreted the words.

Oh well.
