PRIDE IS A VIRTUE IN YOU

The religion says pride, jealousy and envy are the main three vices that destroy the humanity. Jealousy and envy may corrode moral characteristic of a person but my belief is pride protects a man or a woman from vice. A true, honest and talented man or woman has his / her own pride. It may be called the pride of the soul. God has poured into a true heart a certain amount of pride that covers him away from vice particles of the world. Pride never harms anybody as envy and jealousy do. It coils inside the brain like a serpent and seldom awake except the soul gets involved in sin. If you generate or animate your conscience you discover fifty percent of that is processed from pride itself. Pride checks greed, pride controls envy, pride controls bribery and so on. If you came of a gentle and respected family you cant take bribe, you cant go to brothel, you cant herm other, you cant speak as you should not just out of your pride. Pride protects your character. In my country dark skinned girls are considered less attractive and are same to value. Boys are not attracted to them. So they become very easy lay to boys. But beautiful girls are not. Beautiful girls have pride in them that protects them becoming easy lay of boys. Dark skinned girls have little pride in them to be protected. So they become easy. It is not only a scenario in my country. In America fat woman are regarded less attractive comparing slim beauties. They have little pride to protect them. If you are a good actor, artist, model, writer or any rich man you must have your own pride. It is fortunate that god bestowed pride in us to protect the universe.

well, in every thing there is always two side, the good and the bad.

Tuhin Rahmantuhinra Friday, April 8, 2011 12:34:10 PM

Please Donie show me a bad side of pride that can make my view exact.

Donie Octorashiliarr95 Friday, April 8, 2011 1:35:48 PM

hm, in islam point of view, the first sin (obviously bad side) would be the sin of satan being to proud of it self being created from smokeless fire (in today's point of view, smokeless fire could be laser beam, x-ray and gamma ray, infra red, those things that creates fire without even producing smoke) which is stronger than clay (human were made from clay) and so, satan refuse to give respect to human as a creation of God, that is why God mad at satan.

Somehow I did find that being too proud of oneself can really be a blind to the surrounding. I was a rich boy once, and I took pride in riding my brand new car in the middle of a ghetto somewhere in Jakarta, Indonesia. I did see other people as far below my level. Than one day a person who wears short boxer and a T-shirt came to me, asking me of my behaviour. I answered him as I see him below my level (pride kicks my gut a lot). Turn's out he was a new owner of the company that I work, and he fired me that day. That's how I learn about pride the hard way.

From my point of view, God create pride, jealousy and envy not for us to fall in to them, but to boost ourself even better.

Example, Envy : a person who was lacking in something envying other people who did better. Because of the envy, that person must boost him/her self to be better than the one he/she was envying. Of course in the barrier of morality and normality so he/she would be better not just in the eyes of human, but also in the eye of God.

I was always Envying my wife because she did charity without even thinking of how much her lost was, yet she give a big smile every times she does that, and she did look proud which has boost her self esteem. And I thought "if she could do it, why can't I" (Envy kicks in my gut). And so I did, 10 times more than her. The next thing that happened was that I saw a great big time smile that I won't forget for the rest of my life, and I'm proud of my self (pride kicks in my gut) and I did finally found that self esteem my wife has.

I'm sorry if it's too long, please correct me if I write it wrong. Thank you.

Very nice experience! How wonderfully you got the teaching of Islam. Ok you are right but I say one thing pride is not the source of sin. You were rich and it was your pride but you did not harm anyone. But envy teaches hate others and hate creates the anger. Anger helps to harm others. Your wife is gentle and honest. My regards is for her. Thank you my friend for such a long message that you share with us.

I think your topic really grabbed my attention, I'm gonna write something on my blog. Thank you so much for inviting me to your blog.

Hello my friend,
your point is good and most of what you're saying is correct however, "pride" is one of those English words that can be used in different ways so it's how one uses it in context that matters. What you're talking about is when pride is used to mean dignity, or appropriate self respect. To prove your point it would be better to define it that way. There is a definition of pride that means arrogance, or an inordinate self love which is what God talks about in the Holy Bible. So as you can see it's not an "either, or" definition, rather it's both.

Proverbs 16:18 NKJV

Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Hello Brian
Thank you for remembering me of arrogance. Yes you meant right. Arrogance always goes forward of accurate pride. If pride gets 30 points of humanity, arrogance gets 5 only. Pride is one thing but arrogance is the other. An Arrogant person may harm other but a proud man is only with himself. When a team wins it means they won from their accurate technique or policy that they may be proud of. From any perspective you may observe the fact to see it is really innocence.

yes. pride does come before a fall. and that is a warning about arrogance and false superiority.
i read once, "don't compare yourself to others. it will either make you arrogant or obsequious."
but i think you are talking about a noble pride which protects us from going too far. something tells me i am better than that one whose desire rules his mind. good pride is from actions which serve god and the good of the community. efforts to make the world a better place feed one's innocent self esteem. happy

Tuhin Rahmantuhinra Tuesday, June 7, 2011 7:41:47 AM

Thanks Scott. You thought the right. I meant the good and honest pride which protects us from going too far and teaches us to chose right from wrong.

Kathy BoulierICU109 Wednesday, July 6, 2011 7:32:02 PM

sort of same meaning
"self-esteem" - you think well enough of your own person that you treat yourself as a temple. you would not defame that temple if your self-esteem, or how well you think of yourself, is high and good. nice article. thanks for sharing.

The Babylonians built a tower eons ago called the Tower of babel because in their "pride" they believed they could, on their own, ascend to heaven if they just built the tower high enough. At the time all spoke one language. Because of their pride and over inflated since of self worth, God struck them with confusion and they began to speak different languages. Today when someone is saying a lot of words and they're not making sense we call it babbling.

Isn't it funny how things haven't changed. We're so full of ourselves that we care more about our personal meaning that we attach to things than the actual meaning of things. smile

Genesis 10:8-10 NKJV

Cush begot Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.” And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

Genesis 11:1, 4-7, 9 NKJV

Now the whole earth had one language and one speech...And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech...” Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

Thanks Kathy and Brian for commenting on my topic. It really helps me building new thoughts over old matters. I will start thinking to mend my old perception with the light of yours though still confused I am to seriously think over.

Kathy BoulierICU109 Monday, July 11, 2011 8:03:14 AM

To be confused shows you have thoughts and that you care about the topic. Carry on my wayward son!

Brian W. HundleyHisbounty Wednesday, July 13, 2011 12:43:19 AM

Tuhin, You're welcome! If I my be so bold, I would like "step out on a limb" and say that I think that there is someone close to you who has been telling you about your pride and you are thinking a lot about it and defending your position by taking the side that your pride is a good thing. Is that the case?
Sometimes God is trying to get our attention and he sends messengers our way to say through them what it is that He's trying to communicate to us. Do you pray? You can ask God if He is trying to tell you something about pride. I challenge you to this task. smile

Tuhin Rahmantuhinra Sunday, July 17, 2011 9:24:58 AM

Brian, you are right. I believe in every theory there is a reason and god has put that in. What you though about a messenger is also right. So you got a reason for everything you have been bestowed by the almighty.
