How to install Opera Web Browser in Ubuntu + Plugins.

update:
if you already have "Opera" installed and you can't watch videos or any flash movies try the following Fix. I can say that it will work for everyone but I know it has worked for many already including me.

Open Opera
Click on Tools > Preferences
go To The advanced tab
Click on Downloads on the left side then
find the one that says application/x-shockwave-flash
Click Edit at the bottom where it says Use Plugin from the pull down menu
select the one that says: 'Shockwave Flash - /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so' if it doesn't work you can try a different one from the pull down menu
Click OK and exit out then try it
hope that helps smile

How to install Opera in Ubuntu

This works for Ubuntu 8.4/8.10/9.4
First download the latest version of Opera from here to your desktop and then double-click on the file to install it.
You can find the launcher under Applications > Internet > Opera

Next install the flash plugin:
Open a Terminal by going to Applications > Accessories > Terminal and copy and paste this command:

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

now install java, so you can run any java application or see websites that use java to show their content. In a terminal type this code:
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-fonts sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin

also install Ubuntu Restricted Extras to help support with Java runtime environment. Go to Applications → Add/Remove Programs. In the top right, change the setting to "All available applications". Select All in the left panel and then Search on the right for "Ubuntu restricted extras" package. Check the box beside of it and click Apply Changes.

if you want Opera to look like "The Ubuntu Human Theme" go HERE and just click "download skin" Opera automatically install it for you, if don't like it you can always return to the default theme by going to Tools > Appearance > Skin and click on the Opera Standard skin or you can look for a different skin by clicking on Find more skins

personally I like the vista2 skin here is a

Works flawlessly thus far, but today the update manager complained that the update package was untrusted - even after I installed the key from the opera website. My alternative was to install it from the download page -- and it works fine this way.
