South Africa, England, Rugby

For years, South Africa has shared its pool of rugby talent with the world. Blessed with by generic power and widespread popularity of the game, some South Africans some saw a move aboard as a means to furthering their careers.
Perhaps the Boks biggest loss is that off Matt Stevens – a tighthead prop, growing in stature.
Stevens is a Kearsney College old boy who spent time at the University of Cape Town, living in residence at Kopano – formerly Drie Koppen.
Number eight Nick Easter – who had a fantastic game in the semi-finals against France – has a South African mother. When he left school in 2001, Easter took a gap year working at Rondebosch High school in Cape Town. He also played for the well-known Villagers club in the area.
Mike Catt – already a World Cup winner in 2003 – was born and raised in Port Elizabeth and went to school at Grey High.
England have elected to summon Nick Abendanon for the injured Josh Lewsey. Abendanon was born and raised in Johannesburg.

The Linux Guide, TLG, Guide, Linux
General-purpose introduction to the most commonly encountered problems of new Linux users. It's one of my most frequently maintained documents to which I'm giving a bit more than my fair share of attention. The article is constantly growing and improved upon. It includes help in choosing a distribution, what Linux is all about and how much it differentiates from other operating systems and more.
For now this document is hosted on my website and is updated all the time but is very small at the time of writing. Any contributions and shortcomings are greatly appreciated. Perhaps I will turn this whole concept into a wiki, for now users can contribute by commenting to this post or by mailing me at ulrich@lavabit.com. I will also be posting updates to this blog.

South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Argentina
...

After a weekend of upsets ruling out competition favourites, the All Blacks and the Wallabies from Australia, the four remaining teams for the RWC 2007 semi-final stands as South Africa vs Argentina and France (hosts) vs England. This rules us up as two southern hemisphere teams ruled against each other and the same counter for the two northern hemisphere teams.

Open Source, Linux

No more than three years ago, the heralded phrase 'open source' hadn't had that much of significance at the time to me. The little I did know about it was thanks to the swift introduction I had on a previous encounter with Red Had Linux.
After really getting into Linux a year or so later I've learnt a lot since and terms such as GCC, GNU, Richard Stallman, etc. have become icons which I relate to open source. When you try something like Linux and other FOSS software you tend to learn to read the manual, the README and/or any other instructions and you start to understand the intimacy software has with your computer and how great UNIX is actually designed. I've learned a lot, including web design, some programming and a load more all from free software.
There's a lot more to it than just Linux though and I found that out soon, with titles such as Firefox, OpenOffice and many more and I strongly believe that open source software is having a major impact on the way commercial software is being built, it's actually challenging.
Proprietary software vendors have some great competition and open source is moving, development is fast and end-products are improved constantly, since the user is also the developer and just about any fix to any open licensed software can be made by any contributor
Today I'm a better person because of it, so a big thanks and I'm looking forward to contribute as an open source developer myself in the near future and I'd like to invite anyone that have not tried out Linux, Solaris or BSD yet, to take some time and check it out.
