Opera Unite

Messenger: Round 2

A few builds ago, we had bundled a little surprise for our My Opera users. A Messenger application, which allowed you to chat with your friends on My Opera was made public.

Today we are releasing an update to the same application and this time it's going to be available for download from unite.opera.com at http://unite.opera.com/application/412/. It's a simple application that lets you communicate with your network of friends on My Opera in a new way. If you are a My Opera user, you should definitely try this application.

Again, do let us know what you think. You can leave you comments on the application page at http://unite.opera.com/application/412/ or even report a bug at https://bugs.opera.com/wizard/. The application is currently under development so it's the right time to request improvements

Latest builds are in the sidebar.

Opera Unite services get rechristened to applicationsIt is on! 10.10 beta with Opera Unite is out.

opera need a voice application as well

The Messenger's UI fails where all Unite-UI fails -- too much white color.

I get occasional freezing with this build. Could it be sonar related? Also, please fix unite's media player to be able to work with IE (since most people use IE of FF an not the good stuff).

And voice for win7 would be highly appreciated. Can't wait to hear that sweet sound again:) (I tease myself on xp mode

Great work opera team!

I just used it, it is awesome. My request is make spell-checker work.

Daniel James Hendrycks 6. October 2009, 15:59

Maybe BBCode too...

You wouldn't want to type bbcode while "chatting" with someone would you. P:

I'd love to see Opera start using TinyMCE more so we can enjoy rich text. This would give it a closer feel to an application based messenger (rather than web based like a blog of forum).

Daniel James Hendrycks 6. October 2009, 18:24

Here is one.

A notification when someone goes online! I hated continuously checking to see if someone was online. We are already getting notification when someone messages us...

Ok here is some feedback for the Unite Messenger interface.

The conversation box has a very small amount of height.

Idan Adar 7. October 2009, 04:34

If anything, the conversation box should have LESS height and the chat box should have MORE height. I am more interested to review the text written without the hassle of scrolling up and down.

Media Player isn`t working for me. If I want to start it, it crashes the browser. I had the same problem two builds before this one. Don`t know what causes it :S

You should report this bug to Media Player bug reports and send the crash report to Opera via the crash report dialog or Bug Wizard.

What is the difference. The type one should get a little more height and the part where you see what you said should get even more height.

I would rather take the notification for when someone comes online more than anything though.

So should I repost my feedback? (Obviously not if you respond to this because then you would be reading it p:)

I have problems with passwords. e.g. i can't make new music-player to be public. It wants a pass anyway. the same thing with new file sharing app.
