Web standards Puppenkiste - German Uni Tour - Augsburg 6 November 2009

Although the session was primarily aimed at students from the Faculty of Computer Sciences, our presence garnered enough interest to also entice students from other faculties to come along - in particular, I had a very interesting conversation with a technically-savvy architecture student about the apparent tension between the use of open web standards and the need to protect an author's copyright and intellectual property.
(last photo by SickOne)After lunch, graciously bought for us by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Nik Klever - whom I had met a few weeks ago at the W3C Germany and Austria Office opening event at the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam - I took the opportunity to walk around the campus and check out some of the student work from the Faculty of Design...very inspiring and fresh stuff, which made the old graphic designer in me very happy.
This weekend I'm chilling out in Munich to recharge my batteries in preparation for my next talk at the Leibniz-Rechenzentrum München on Monday, while Alexandra is spending some time with her family who also happen to live in the vicinity. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to sample the delights of the local cuisine, tourist traps and vibrant student nightlife...
