Studying the design of everyday things

While the iron's hot

man- that would have been a much better title for this post.

Welcome!
This rag-tag band of users is enjoying a bit of notoriety thanks to the Opera Community, so I'll drop another quick intro.

This site is a conglomeration of many influences discussing the good and bad design of everyday things. If you are interested in this at all, there are actually books written on this very subject and other sites doing similar things...see the links and about pages for more info. I feel the need to mention the books in order to validate the fact that we're spending time writing about nail clippers and can openers and the like.

Stu_Pedasso has picked up the guantlet, and you're welcome to as well! If you're shy, but have something on your mind- get ahold of me and I'll take a stab at it. I'd love to hear your ideas and thoughts.

Finally- check the archives and the "You Might Like..." links. I wrote a lot of junk in here that I'm sure nobody's ever seen since I've been writing in obscurity for months.

Thanks-Eddie

To re-interate, this blog has group ownership (for those with my.opera accounts), and we have a small band of members already.

With that in mind, please feel free to add usability related items as you like. Barring that- email me (usability at el73.net, or in the opera community if you have an account) with ideas or things you may have stumbled across that would fit here.

But don't worry too much, I intend to drive this rig until the wheels fall off. I'll probably have to do something like Jensen Harris is doing and re-work some of the earlier posts and get them up here.

Card swipe smorgasboard

Please email to me (usability at el73 net) as many pictures as you can find of different ways you’ve encounted for the simple activity of inserting or swiping your card (ATM or otherwise). I would like to combine them for a super collage of swiping goodness.
