Usability interview with Opera!

, , , ...

When Opera interviewed me in March, one of the things I mentioned was that I wanted to do more Opera interviews for this site. It took a couple of quick emails to long time User Centered contributor Kenneth Maage to get the ball rolling which got me thinking... "why the heck didn't I do this a long time ago?"

Six members of Opera involved with Usability, User Experience and System Testing all took the time out of their busy schedules (providing you all with the best internet experience) to answer some questions on Opera and usability.

Opera typically grows with the user, the more you use it, the more features you will discover, enable or customize.

Site Update- Group Members & Posting

UPDATE- I've set the group blog to "apply to join"

I assume it's an anti-spam measure, but currently if the group is set to allow anyone to join, those members can't post (even though the UI has a checkbox saying you can), nor is there any way for me to approve them to post without making them moderators.

I assume then, that if I change the status so the users must apply to join, that once accepted, they can post. This whole issue is quite fuzzy to me, and I'm not sure exactly what happens to existing members who are already joined (can you now post?)

Please sound off in the comments or in the following thread, sorry if you've had trouble. I'll continue to try to make the process as easy as possible for everyone through voice my concerns through the Opera forums, until then, I think the handful of people that are wanting to post outweigh the group members that are joining but not posting/commenting- so I will do my best to accommodate them!

Yes, I realize the irony of all this.. being a usability group blog and all.

Site Update: Should we have a forum?

,

I've had the forum turned off on this site... pretty much since it's inception. Reason being that if you have something you'd want to post about in the forums, I'd rather you just posted it up on the main page anyway (psuedo forcing function?) ...and any discussions on usability topics has been handled within the comments section of the posts.

But maybe I'm missing something... I've had a couple comments on the forum being missing, so I thought I'd ask the group if maybe I'm missing something. Voice your thoughts in the comments, or (what I believe will be) the "only poll you'll ever see on this site."

Also note, I've turned the forum back on for a limited time only! Post now while supplies last. (actually, the forum is always active, there's just not the link up top!)
