Not so intellitext

, ,

I'm sure I'm not the only person not happy with "intellitext" popping up around my browsing experience as of late. So I'd like to take this brief opportunity to point and laugh at its lack of intelligence...

"relevant" ha! (for those who don't know, Bernie Mac is a comedian, not a new Apple DVD-Burner). And for those who are reading between the lines- yes I was reading an article about a Transformers live action movie, what of it? You wanna start something?

Oh, and get this! From the company website*-

Positive User Experience
A user must mouse-over an IntelliTXT word to view an advertisement. IntelliTXT is a 100% User-Driven Advertising Experience.

I'm not so sure "Positive" is the word I would use to describe this user experience.

*meh- I don't really feel like linking it- I guess I'm just being a cry-baby about it, but still; you can search it if you don't believe me.

What bugs me about it is some websites use that same mouse-over gesture to define an unfamiliar term, so you see something, mouse over it for the definition, and instead get a stupid ad.

I hate this pop-ups. It takes a few seconds for it to go away, which makes it extremely annoying.

Right. It's an ambush. User-driven like a land-mine! And advertisers are paying to piss people off. Have they ever heard of "negative impressions?"
