Studying the design of everyday things

Even a hanger continues to evolve

, , ,

I'm looking for a travel hanger to take to the gym with me... my searching led me to stumble on to EasyHanger from Hangers Nest

The hanger. A simple idea that someone is improving on and proof positive that design can always be refined. Basically- you can fold the wings of the hanger down to allow it to fit into tight necked garmets and the like. You can do this all (evidently) with one hand.

In addition to the cool product- the demo's there are what really sell it. They have multiple clear demos that show several ways to use the product. You really get an idea of how cool it is based on the demos. I first thought it was battery powered (raising and lowering). I'm still not sure how it works or how strong it is- but there's some reassurance in the FAQ (claims it can hold up to 11lbs)

Design always makes compromises and finds a balance of many factors. It's interesting to see if this is a better mouse trap or if it's too cumbersome, bulky, ugly, etc to really be of use. The hanger as we know it is successful for a reason (price!)- but it's nice to see innovation in simple things.

I bought some of these when they exhibited at an invention show in the US. Been searching for their site on google when I came across your post!

It really is a top product. I have 20 already and am going to buy some more since its so easy to use. You have to just put it through the collar area and lift the arms up and they lock automatically. To release, there is a button to press and gravity takes care of the rest! I use it more for day-to-day use, but it is compact enough to put in your bags and take with you while travelling.

Great! Thanks for stopping by. I've been curious as to if they were a good product.
