scenic line ups

Ok, here's proof that we actually made an effort to go downtown and witness the madness. Risa and Raymond pose in front of the Olympic Cauldron. Since we live in Vancouver we can always come back another day with a more organized plan, like picking one venue to line up all day for. When you're just wandering around the streets with only a few hours to spend, you can't really line up for anything, especially with a small child. Luckily we were able to eat lunch at a restaurant just a couple blocks off the main thoroughfare which wasn't busy.

Several major downtown streets are converted to pedestrian walkways, and are wall to wall people. It's not easy to take photos because you can't stand in one place for too long before the human current sweeps you along. Risa just wanted free stuff but there wasn't much of that (without lining up for hours), and she's too young to appreciate anything else, like the significance of having so many people from around the world flooding the familiar streets of your home town. Still, I'm happy to go back home and watch the games on our hdtv.

On the way to the caulron:

Hello Chows! Yes, it's quite the party happening downtown. All the news reports are true - I've never seen anything like this in my lifetime in Vancouver!
