Out of the Comfort Zone

Some Random Thought ...

Thoughts from Varish

Monday Morning Blues + Homesickness = Deadly Combination !

Monday Morning Blues - Everyone gets it some-time or the other. Monday mornings are the time you hate to go to school/college/work.

Homesickness - If you are attached with your family and you are working or studying away from home, I am sure you must have experienced that too.

I am attached with my family a lot. So when I got up today morning to go to college, the combination had a "deadly" effect on me. I could not do any work besides attending a small meeting in the morning. It was only after having coffee and calling home in the afternoon that I could concentrate on some work.

Ganapati Celebrations in UMBC !

,

One of the things that I thought I would miss in the US would be Ganesh Chaturti or Ganapati Celebrations that we have every year back home in India. But UMBC is really special. We actually have Ganesh Chaturti celebrations here. Ok UMBC is not sponsoring it, but for quite some years now, at a senior student's house we have the celebrations for 5 days. So for the past four days my mornings and evenings, I am enjoying my aartis ... the sweet sound of Sukharta Dukharta with friends brings a lot of peace to me, the prasad that each one volunteers to make, its all here in the US too ! Tomorrow will be Ganesh Visarjan ... the last day of Ganesh Celebrations here in UMBC ... just the way, we celebrate back home...

I am really lucky that I have not missed my Ganapati celebrations here in the US.
The Ganesh Chaturti Celebrations indeed makes UMBC very special to me.

Where is this country headed ?

16 serial blasts in Ahmedabad on July 26, 2008. A day before, 7 serial blasts in Banglore. A flurry of terror threat emails from an unknown terrorist organization, warning blasts in Mumbai, Delhi and other cities. Are the intelligence agencies of the country sleeping ? In the last 5 serial blasts in the country over the past 5 years or so, there have been no arrests, no convictions. Is our country going soft on terrorism ? What is going on ? The situation is as if, the terrorists wake up and say "Hey lets have a serial blast today" and boom, there you have it :furious:

I hope these continuous serial blasts in two cities, wakes up the Govt. to act and have a mechanism put in place to stop all these attacks.
