where's WWW headed for ?

what does key word search (googling) lack ?

what does 2.0 or 3.0 refer to in a web #.0 term ?

what is semantic web ?


The Semantic Web is about two things. It is about common formats for integration and combination of data drawn from diverse sources, where on the original Web mainly concentrated on the interchange of documents. It is also about language for recording how the data relates to real world objects. That allows a person, or a machine, to start off in one database, and then move through an unending set of databases which are connected not by wires but by being about the same thing.

There are so many standards we use, not because its efficient or economical,but purely because it's nearly impossible to set a new standard - take the QWERTY keyboard for instance- why should a computer's keyboard have keys arranged in this particular format - QWERTY ...the reason dates back to typing machines which had a mechanical way of printing letters, any other arrangement of keys would make the typist to either type too fast - jamming the typewriter or either too slow - lowering productivity and QWERTY became the standard, today even if we dont require this particular arrangement on PC keyboards - it just can't be undone - technology entrenchment.
