Wireless 1st time Setup

All the troubleshooting in this post are specific for DELL MINI Computers with 8.04\8.10 version and might or might not work with other computer.Networks Not detected:
- Goto System->Administration->Network or Network Settings.
- Click unlock. Type in the password. Select wireless Connection and click properties.
- Put a check on Enable automatic mode. Click Ok. Wait 30-40 seconds then click on the network icon.
- Just setup the network as a normal setup.
Networks detected but not able to connect:
- Right click network icon. Select Edit connection. Go to wireless Tab.
Note:If You don't see Edit Connection.Left click the Network icon and You will See Edit Wireless Connection. - Delete the network name you are trying to connect to; if it is available in the list.(Delete all the networks in the list if you can configure the other networks again).
- Restart the computer.
- Click on the network icon and connect to the network. Type the password if the network is a secured connection.
- Select the appropriate security type WEP passphrase\key\WPA before entering the password.
Note: If the network password has 10 characters and contains numbers(0-9) & Alphabets (a-f).Then 99% it will be a WEP hex key. - If the network password is wrong. The authentication screen will come up again and again and will request a password.
- Sometimes after so many guesses you tend to get your password and even that doesnt work. Then simply restart the computer and try again.It should work.
Networks disconnected:
Sometimes you have the correct network password. You try connecting to it. It tries to connect then it says network disconnected.
- Manually configure a dummy network to refresh the network settings
- Goto System->Administration->Network or Network Settings.
- Click unlock. Type in the password. Select wireless and click properties.
- Uncheck Enable automatic mode.
- Just setup a dummy network like shown below and click OK.
- It will say changing interface. Click Ok on Network settings.
- Restart the computer.
- Goto network settings and put a check on Enable automatic mode and wait 30-40 seconds and try connecting to the network.
