Today I am trowing in another quote on U.S History!
Up to 1624 about 14,000 people moved to North America, but due to diseases and attacks from native inhabitants the population kept small. Over time religious movements and war made many people from northwestern Europe move to the New World, seeking new opportunities. Late 17th century the North American population had risen to a quarter of a million, originating mainly from the British Isles and partially from France, The Netherlands, Germany and Sweden. The colonists were by no means a homogeneous band, but rather a variety of social and religious groups which settled in different locations on the eastern seaboard.

I have written a short summary of U.S. History as part of the researh required for the studytour (Later on I will elaborate on this tour). The document describes American geographical, historical, socio-cultural and business aspects. It could be a nice basis for discussion; download it at the bottom of this message.
President Woodrow Wilson promoted the concept of a peaceful community of nations to prevent future blood shedding as during the First World War. The so-called League of Nations was included to the Treaty of Versailles which officially ended the war. Despite all President Woodrow Wilson's efforts, for which he was awarded the 1919 Nobel Peace Prize, the U.S.A. Senate never signed the Treaty in order not to lose U.S.A.’s neutrality.
