Opera is the music of Internet

Opera az Internet zenéje

Ghost from the days of old...

I received today this link in the last Google Alert package: Browsing the browsers

"Unlike the Mozilla twins, Opera makes you look at paid advertising banners. They're not obtrusive and don't affect performance, but you can buy an ad-free version for $39. Opera 7.54 is available for Windows, Mac OS, Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris. The basic Windows download is just 3.4MB, though adding Java brings it up to 16.2MB." November 8, 2004 (Computerworld)

The nice old Google Adds for Opera...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year for all Opera-users!

Deja vu

I'm just read the post of Opera Watch about benefits and "superiority" of Opera. This is a very spectacular visualizing of these benefits.

It I have could say myself...! :D

Evereything for the Users - Opera 9.50 Kestrel

Opera 9.50 Kestrel was released on Tuesday. Prompt can anybody catch sight, that many sites are rendered correctly. Although came some new little bugs.

But for me is imposing, how Opera team follows and fills the demands of users. For example I have two desires, what I with many other user did want:

- It can switch on/off blocker functions in Site Preferences (filter.ini and Content blocker in sites)
- In the Notes we can see the full Timestamp in Windows, too.

(And in the Blogger is already correct the Preview, too)

Good Work, Opera guys!

Testing without annoying

I always download the Weekly builds, because generally they have new features, and are errors patched. But sometimes I have problems with install, so I figured out a way of freshening, that solves the next problems:

- Small size of the main Opera directory
- Not to lose settings because of accidental deleting
- I can use one setting collection for more instances of Opera

This requires, that the essential and big files are out of the freshened directory. So I copy my files to any "secure" place (e.g. other partition), and I apply my settings to the new places:

Mail: opera:config\#Mail|MailRootDirectory
General block content file (filter.ini): opera:config\#Network|URLFilterFile
Cache directories:
opera:config\#UserPrefs|CacheDirectory4
opera:config\#UserPrefs|OperatorCacheDirectory4
opera:config\#UserPrefs|TemporaryDownloadDirectory

Plugins: opera:config\#UserPrefs|PluginPath
User Javascript: opera:config\#UserPrefs|UserJavaScriptFile
Language file: opera:config\#UserPrefs|LanguageFile
Toolbar file: opera:config\#UserPrefs|ToolbarConfiguration
shortcuts: opera:config\#UserPrefs|KeyboardConfiguration

I install any new build this way:
- Zipped save from main directory
- Installing the new version in the main directory

Since the big files are out of the saved directory, so the zipped archive has a small size, and - if necessary - I can make a clean install, and I can set my settings (above) in a minute with this options. Of course, some settings requires further tuning, but I haven't to be afraid of losing of my important data, if the freshening has failure.

(I could save my widgets, too, and drag-and-drop in group, but this way some widget would lose its cookies (e.g. SimAquarium).)

Finally there is a spellchecker for Hungarian to Opera!

There are more spellcheckers for Opera, like ASpell or Orangoo Sperllchecker. They are excellent checkers, but they have a big problem: They can't be used for Hungarian. :frown:

But now seems to be solved the problem. d.i.z. wrote an UserJS based on Orangoo, and used the Gmail engine, that can handle Hungarian, too! It's the Ospell! (Download : ospell.js)

The Ospell is very handy and comfortable. It's worth to use it!

CHIP : Opera 9 is the most secure

The hungarian CHIP magazine (2007.02) tested Opera 9 as the most secure browser of the Windows platform. Congratulation!

1. Opera 9
2. Firefox 2.0
3. MS Internet Explorer 7

CP 2006: 1. Opera 9

The Computer Panorama recently not only offered, but in the category of "Browsers, mailers, RSS-readers" prized as No.1 the Opera 9.

"1. Opera 9

We most say, for a long time in the past we weren't Opera-fans. Although not discussed it was the fastest browser, but we were discouraged through the overcomplicated interface and through the countless likely overcomplicated functions. But the version nine became for our wish...
...It's for glorify. it has countless extras, what can Firefox only with plugins. Who wish for a comfortable program for browsing on the Web, do try it!"

2. Mozilla Thunderbird
3. MS Internet Explorer 7
4. Firefox 2.0
5. Avant Browser

Opera don't need to be ashamed of market share in Hungary!

I've filled a survey about "Digital lifestyle".

What browser do you use for Internet?

Result:
Internet Explorer 58%
Firefox 30%
Opera 7%

I can see, that I'm not the only Opera-user in Hungary!

We are out of the water!

It's a big problem, that we Hungarians can't read the foreign WEB-pages, and isn't any WEB-translator for Hungarian.

But the problem is solved! On this page we can find the Hungarian into english and vica versa.

But is very interesting to look at the translations. We (Hungarians) can't understand the Hungarian text, but we can laugh about it. :D
