Submit your own Keyboard
Thursday, 31. May 2007, 08:50:23
Keyboards can be created in the widget itself, and when you are happy with a new keyboard, you can submit it here.
Did you know... that if you get a keyboard approved, all users can see your name as the author?
Keep in mind
Your keyboard should be sufficiently different from other keyboards, so users won't be confused by similar and too many options.
Consider making a character mapping for it, mappings should generally assume an American keyboard layout.
If making a keyboard for a specific language, please consult with a native speaker to ensure it looks good. If you are already a native speaker, please consult with a friend to have someone have a second look at it.
For submission, post the fields below into a comment here. Your post will be read, and if your keyboard is found to be of good value, it will be added to the available keyboards for the widget. It not, you will be told how it can be improved.
Required fields
- Name of the widget. English, as well as a localized version if applicable.
- Keyboard. The layout, copy & paste from the textarea in the widget.
Optional fields
- Author. If not present, the author of the post will be assumed. The author is visible to all users downloading new keyboards.
- Mapping. If the keyboard benefits from a particular character mapping, copy & paste it from the widget.
- Group. Which group you think the widget best belongs to.
- Direction. Left-to-right will be assumed otherwise.
- Comment. Currently the widget does not support comments to keyboards, but comments can still be saved along with keyboards. If experience shows that comments are useful, these comments can be made available in the widget in the future.
