, ,

It seems like children are constantly growing. As time passes, before you know it your little baby is a big boy or big girl. Along with that is the fact that their feet are always stretching out and it seems like they are always in need of new shoes. But, how can a parent buy for cheap all of the shoes that their child needs? Can they be the frugal fashionista that they need to be to keep their children in stylish shoes which are not going to cause their family to go broke? Here's how parents can get the shoes while saving the cash:

Be a frugal fashionista and don't be afraid to ask! Of course you are not the only person that has a bunch of "barely used" kids shoes that your child has outgrown. Parents that you know are experiencing the same thing. Ask the people that you know about those shoes. You may just luck up and get some of those fancy and name brands that you don't want to buy, totally free!

Have a big shoe party! Invite some close family friends over that also have kids or open it up to parents within your community. Set standards for the shoes, such as that they need to be clean, still in good condition, and without holes. Then, let the kids and families come together and swap shoes. This is even better than being able to buy for cheap these same shoes.

Try a consignment or thrift shop. The thrift shop often has shoes as cheap as $1 per pair, regardless of the style or brand name. They can offer these bargains because everything is donated. Consignment shops, because they have to pay for the item, will charge slightly more. But, you will still save considerably over the retail price. Consignment shops often offer the top brands and the most popular styles at 50-90% or more off of the regular retail price. Also, you can make a little money yourself by taking shoes in good condition to sell to the consignment store. This could actually result in you getting the shoes for FREE!!

Go on a post-holiday sale hunt. Off season is the best season for buying items like shoes. Frugal fashionistas know that you buy boots at the end of winter and sandals at the end of fall. You'll have fun as you experience the saving. Cost-conscious parents can keep those little toes safe and secure all year and still get a good price if they watch the sales!

If you absolutely must have the shoes, try to buy them when the store offers a Buy One, Get One deal. Then, you can at least get 2 pairs of shoes for the price of 1! Also, look for coupons in your Sunday paper. Many large department stores will offer coupons in their weekly sale circular. These can often be combined with other specials that they may have going on.
