NLBC Boxes

, , ,

Frequently used by the active NLBs, the NLBC Boxes come in different size, shapes and colour. They can be use in many occasions like when you decide to take the big step in the NLBC world. Once your a member, you may use it to get out of the darkness and find a new place where you can breathe and evolve. And when you face life with a new energy, things happen and you may need the NLBC boxes to share your new found happiness. As confidence grows, you become more and more enthusiastic and you can take those boxes to build your own nest with the people you love. But be careful running with these boxes in your arms can be hazardous. If you move to fast, you can trip and hit a wall. And when it happens, when your body and mind tell you to stop, you will need those boxes to take a break, move back and analyse where you find yourself and why you have hit that wall.

And after your break, where these boxes will carry you? Will you follow the same direction that your were heading before you stopped or will you take another road? To soon to tell, you better take the time to unpack them before trying to fill them again..

Promise keeped

Last month I have written a last post before suspending my blog for an undetermined period of time until, I quote myself, “my scars will be healed and my new life will already be in motion.” Well today I think I can proudly say that I have achieved this goal almost perfectly.

The first big news:

No, it's not that new blog design, it's really bigger than this, I'm starting a new job next Monday! :hat:

And it's not any job because it fits exactly what I wanted to do after I have quit my job at the park which mean that I have found a job where I can help less fortunate people and have the feeling that I will do something useful with my life.

So starting from next week I will be the new chief executive of a charity organism which provide to low incomes families, immigrants and mentally challenged persons the possibility to spend an outdoor vacation out of their daily problems and realities. The organism owns a 400 acres camp with a private lake which could accommodate hundreds of vacationers and give them the opportunity to do outdoor activities like swimming, canoeing, hiking, archery, etc. I'm very happy to have been chosen for this job because it combines my love for nature and social implication. Although, it's a little bit strange for a non-ambitious guy like me to get a higher management post but with time, I have discovered that I kind of like to have the latitude to do the things the way I would like them to be and in my past experiences, the employees don't seem to hate my way of managing.

This new job also means a brand new outdoor environment for Volkuro, the amateur photograph and that could be good news for those who miss the usual nature portion of this blog. But you will have to wait until May, when the camp will open because until then, I will work from my home doing mostly paper work in preparation of the summer season.

Second big news:

Most of you know or have guessed that my recent emotional down period was due to my complicated past year's love life. Well in this case, the actors are the same but the state of minds have changed. Two weeks ago, a new Dalexia has written to me after having passed through an eye-opening period of her life and she has succeed to show me that there was a possibility for us to start a new relationship but this time with a different approach. Since we now both know exactly what we don't want, we only have to concentrate our minds on what we want and hope that the mix between our two life's realities can work out and we could be happy as two balanced individuals sharing a part of their lives together. So it's one step at the time but so far, so good...

Third news:

As the proud President of the New life Beginner's Club, I had to emphasize this hopeful new beginning in a brilliant way so I thought about giving myself a gift that I have always wanted, a tattoo.

Since I'm not an impulsive type of person, I have taken the time to consider what kind of design I would like to have and after finding the main idea, I have asked myself who could create in a satisfying way what I had in mind. They I thought “why restrain myself to the regional artists? I'm an Opera member after all, I have access to some of the greatest artists of this planet!” So I have decided to contact a well-known Irish visual artist who does miracles with his camera as well with his pencil or computer and since he is also a gentleman, he has kindly accepted to present me consecutive sketches until I was satisfy with the final result.(I'm sure you have already guessed who he is  ).

This painful first experience has taken place yesterday, the following day of my 41th Birthday. It has lasted 40 minutes and the result is excellent.

So 2009 has started on a really nice note for me and you won't hear me complain about it. With all the things I've been through since I have began my new life and this blog back in April 2006, I believe that I deserve this second new life start and that from now on, life will be good for me :D

I'm back!

, , , ...

Hi everyone!

I know I haven't given news for a long time and I have received a couple of emails of some of my Opera friends asking me if I was ok and I'm flattered by your concerns. So, everything is fine for me and I'm ok. :D

It has been almost 3 weeks since I've came back from Guatemala but after this enriching experience I have immediately jumped into another and that being sharing my life with Dalexia. For me, who has lived alone in the past two years, it's a big change. We haven't moved in together and it's not in our plans for the moment but we spend most of our time together and we get use to see ourselves on a daily basis. And for me there is more to get use to than just Dalexia because she comes with a package deal!

Here I'm talking about her two great kids: a 12 years old boy and 14 years old girl. You can add to that 2 dogs: Whisky and Izzy, and 3 cats(which I'm allergic to :ko: ). Let's just say that when everyone is there, we don't get bored at all!

I have also started looking for a new job with the help of a career consultant and with her help, I have narrowed my choice to socially oriented works and I began to make phone calls to the people I have work with over the years that are working in that domain. I don't quite have the calcifications needed but still, I'm confident that my work experience will be enough to compensate.

So that is mostly what has kept me occupied in the last weeks. There were also the obligatory visits to my family and friends after my trip, Dalexia's new car she has bought, taking care of the things left undo while I was away, etc... So here is why I haven't wrote on my blog or answer any comment :o:

I also neglected to make a post about the end of the second edition of my Project 365. :yikes: I had to look back in my PC to find 6 photos missing trough out the year but fortunately I found them and after a tiresome editing work of my album, it's now sorted and complete

And after a 2 weeks break, I have decided to start a new Project 365(for the third year in a row). This time my starting date is November first and Dalexia has joined me and our both albums should be online pretty soon.. Is that correct dear?

About my Guatemala trip, just you wait. I'm working on my 4600 photos taken during my trip and I will post the very bests on an online image hosting site soon where you will be invited, with all my trip companions, to see and comment. There will be threelingual descriptions for every photos and theme albums. I think you can easily understand the amount of work it represents. But there is already a big part of the work done and I really enjoy doing it. I'll try to finish it as soon as possible because I know that everyone who has made the trip with me is waiting impatiently to see the photos of Louis-the-officially-nominated-photograph-of-the-trip! p:

And for those who likes to read stories, I will make some posts with the notes I took everyday during the trip. I won't do like I did last year when I went to Iceland and post a day by day report after. But instead, I will pick some of the most interesting days and post randomly my daily notes associated with them.

Ok that is about it for my news, oh maybe one more thing! The Als and Lions both have the chance to go the CFL finals and for an exceptional time, I will cheer for the BC team and wish they will win their semi-final and meet the without-a-doubt-winners of the East semi-final team: The Alouettes! Right San?

I haven't visit any blog since a long time, sorry, I will try to find time for this too. Until then, take care everyone and I'll talk to you soon

:D :D :D

Holidays, holidays, holidays

, , , ...

Holidays, holidays, holidays.

What a nicely sounding word. “Encore 2 dodos” two more sleeps and I will have a short but anticipated one week holiday. This time I won't ask you for suggestions like I already did on this blog (vacation ideas?) because I have plenty of activities already scheduled. :D :D

Okay, okay, I'm not leaving for the Bahamas to take photos of my toes half-covered with beach sand and pressed against others like some lucky people will do(lucky people) but nevertheless I will start my holidays in high gear by attempting again this year the Montreal high light festival and its cool “nuit blanche” (Montreal all-nighter). Last year I had a ball going around the city from dusk till dawn as you can see on this chronological photo sets: Nuit blanche 2007.

This year, among the 123 activities there will be

"Chai, Shadow and Light",

the "Collective Catharsis,"

the "Sleepless PARANORMAL night"

and "La Movida"

And on Sunday morning after the Convivial Breakfast I will stay in Montreal and find a place to sleep because on the same night I'm heading down to the Bell Center to see “The Boss” live in concert! :hat:

Since Elke won't go with me I will have to content myself to go with a work buddy... :frown:
Although, he's a big fan too so I'm sure it will be a night to remember anyway

After the show I will come back home and try to have a good night of sleep because the next morning, I'm going to Mt. Tremblant for a day of cross country skiing with Soulsis.

...

At this point I should begin to feel the recuperative effects of this relax holiday.

...

And in the days after that I will, in no particular order: go alpine skiing, do my taxes, spend a day with my little treasures, snowshoeing, visit some friends, maybe see a movie and take a few photographs... at least one a day. A whole week of pure rest! :D :D :D

Now I can't wait to sing along on "Badlands" with the 14 000 other fans...
:sing: "BADLANDS! whoo ohh ohh ohh o-oooh BADLANDS! whoo ohh ohh ohh o-oooh..." :sing:

Volkuro's special day

, , , ...

On this next to last day before my move, while my mind was more concentrated on the final preparations and my work obligations, a cyclist rolling in the park stopped at my sight and said my name.
After a brief hesitation, I recognized my lost soul sister
We were very good friends and we haven't seen each other for almost 20 years. :faint: With the help of comprehensive employees, I've managed to free myself so we could quickly catch up on each other lives. But after a really too short half hour chat, we both had to go back to our respective obligations but not without taking time to give each other a big hug and a promise to meet again soon, really soon. :D
It really made my day because she has been someone very special in my life from my high school years through my early twenties and surprisingly during the years we have lost contact, we have taken different but somehow similar paths and I really think they were meant to crossed again.

And tonight I went to see my osteopath for the second time for my painful neck. After the session, while I was all relaxed, she said that the better thing she could do for me would be to let me sleep in her office until next morning!
She said that I was simply completely drained out of energy and I needed rest, a lot of rest, a lot a lot of rest. She made me promise that after my move I would take it very easy. I think she's right, I should stop running around all the time and start reviewing my priorities.

In fact with my move, my upcoming trip, I really feel like I'm starting a new life again:

From now on...

To conclude, here's the last photo of my favorite tree. I won't passing by everyday on my way to work anymore. It nicely closes the loop of my NLB's first chapter don't you think?

P.S. I'll be “unplugged” for almost a week (you might not see any difference since I was rarely present on the OC in the last weeks  )
but I'll be back in the middle of next week and this time with a HIGH SPEED CONNECTION! :hat:

Take care you all
