Is Taj Mahal Loosing its lustre
I Recently visited the Taj Mahal and was shocked to see that the monument which seems good from far away doesn't look the same as it did years before. The dome on top now seems not perfect white(marble) that it should look like but as if it were the some un brushed tooth of some one.
From far away The Taj Mahal being one among the 7 wonders of the world although various controversies loom around it claiming it to be a temple of Hindu Lord Shiva named Tejo Mahalaya (Tejo another name of Lord Shiva and Mahalaya means big temple) Recently some Hindu groups had made this claim and had tried to start a daily Aarti (offering prayers using lamps). This monument has stood majestically for more than 500 years now but it now seems to be loosing its shine. Environmental reasons may be accounted for this degradation and no wonder if one were to see this in ruins in few years from now if no proper restoration work starts. ASI - Archeological Survey of India had done some work on this monument embalming it with clay like material to help Taj Restore its beauty.
The Deterioration of the monument may be attributed to many reasons among which the following may be a few :
The Taj Mahal attracts a large amount of tourist throughout the year and its upkeep and maintenance should be a priority.
Taj mahal is an approximate 200 Kilometers from Delhi (Capital of India) by road it should take a easy 3 hours to reach there. The Roads till Agra from Delhi are in good shape and one can enjoy a smooth ride till Agra but once you enter Agra the roads are very congested with all kind of traffic. Hotels in and around are good and offer a decent stay. The entry to Taj mahal includes tight security checks and one is not allowed to carry a mobile charger or any cable that might be included along with your camera, all these are to be deposited in a locker prior to your entry (For security reasons)
