Tweaking uTorrent

Have you felt like utorrent was slow on your system even though your connection is pretty fast ? I had felt it too and I searched a lot and found some methods to tweak utorrent to get maximum speeds. These things worked for me and my speeds increased.
The first thing you should have is the latest version of utorrent. Get it from uTorrent
Use the speed guide
Bring up the speed guide from options-->speed guide or press ctrl + G
For the connection type, select your connection speed. If your connection speed is 256kbps use 256k. setting a very high value is in no way going to help increase your speed. So use the most accurate speed.
Port
Enter a port number and check if it is forwarded properly. If the port is not forwarded, follow the tips on PortForwardto set up the port
Protocol Encryption
Go to options-->preferences or press ctrl + P to bring up the preferences window. In the BitTorrent tab, select Protocol Encryption to Enabled or Forced. This can speed up your torrents
Advanced Tweaking
First remove the connection limits for Windows XP. Back up your TCPIP.sys file first. If you haven't done anything, your maximum half open connection limit would be set as 10 in windows by default. Download this patch and execute the exe in it. You might need a reboot.
Back to utorrent. Bring up Advaced tab from preferences.Change net.max_halfopen value to 50 by selecting the line, modifying the value at the bottom to 50 and clicking Set. If a * appears, dont worry. It only indicates that the value has been changed from the default value.
Change bt.transp_disposition value to 255 in the same way.
