Blood and pig feet for dinner

We have tried eating a few strange things here in Beijing already, but yesterday Xiaolin and Thruth took us to a great hotpot restaurant and made us try some even more weird stuff, such as "blood tofu" and pig feet.

It tasted better than I thought it would, and we also had some great beef and lamb meat. More pictures from this restaurant visit can be found in the albums.

The journey so far..

Pavel at the airport in Frankfurt
Me enjoying a beer:

Pavel and I set out on our journey to Beijing on friday, everything looked ok until we arrived at the airport and were informed that our flight was 45 minutes delayed (SAS of course). That would leave us with 0 minutes for getting on the connecting flight in Copenhagen. Luckily we managed to get on an earlier flight, so we were sure we would be allright.

But in Copenhagen we had to check in again, and the queue was quite long, so when we got to the check-in desk we were told that it was closed. They put us on a new flight via Frankfurt the next morning. We spent the night at the SAS hotel in Copenhagen, which wasn't bad at all.

The queue for check-in the next morning was really, really long (longest I've ever seen), but we had learned from last night's experience and were there in good time (I had to get up before 7, which I normally never do). We had no problems on the flight to Frankfurt (Lufthansa this time), and had plenty of time to kill at the airport, so we got to compare German beer with the Danish beer we had in Copenhagen. And of course we had to check in again.

The Air China flight to Beijing was crowded, and none of us were able to sleep, but at least we got to watch some good Chinese movies  Of course Pavel's luggage was lost when we got to China, but we were able to get it from the lost luggage office after a while.

Now we are tired, it's warm and polluted but we are both very excited to explore Beijing...

Going back to china

I'm flying to Beijing on friday 31.aug together with Pavel to take part in Opera's new exchange program ("Bridge The World"), and will be staying there until the beginning of December.

I've been looking forward to this for a while, and can't wait to go! I've been missing proper Chinese food, and the excellent (cheap) prices they have there.

Check back for more news and pictures! (The picture from the great wall is from one of my trips in 2005).
