opera with windows mobile version 5 problems with hp ipag hx2700

Hi
I am new to this forum and have tried to search the FAQ etc to solve my problem but without success. Our school has bought a hp ipag hx2700 with windows mobile computing 5 to connect to a secure network to run a web based electronic roll marking program via a wireless connection.
We have set up the internet proxy server settings and the exception list to bypass proxy server When I use Internet explorer on the ipag it bypasses proxy, finds the roll marking but has some screen layout issues and some menus dont work. I read about opera as being the best web browser and wanted to try it out. I have successfully installed opera and can browse the Internet but it refuses to bypass the proxy to find the roll marking program.
Error message is The server requested a login authorisation method that is not supported.
I have turned on and off 802.11 authentication and retired but it makes no difference.
Any suggestions welcome
Kevin
