Yesterday about 9,000 web sites were taken down when an explosion ripped through a datacentre in Texas. Owned by ThePlanet the datacentre hosts a lot of big websites including Entrecard, which went down for some time along with all the others. Fortunately, despite three walls being torn apart, the servers were undamaged. But it does beg the question - how much essential information have you entrusted to an online host? Have you got it all backed up? No? Perhaps this is a timely reminder that you should at the end of the day rely only on yourself, and back up, back up, back up!
