I have been using Opera for longer than I can remember and you always amaze me with the constant improvements in stability, security and just cool stuff. I especially love the add blocker that has been added.

Keep up the good work. In my opinion you have made the best web browser in the world.

Congrats to the Opera Team on yet another winner!

Notice how others keep scrambling to incorporate "Opera-like" features just to stay in the running?

They don't watch to see if you're gaining, they want to know where you're GOING!

That's because YOU chart the course and YOU set the pace!

It's YOUR marathon, dudes, enjoy the adventure!

You ARE the Champions!

The "download" format for Linux for selecting ".tar.gz" DOES NOT WORK.
I'm using the latest version of Gentoo with a Linux 2.6.16.1 kernel.
The download is being attempted using Firefox 1.5.0.4.
I, as any intelligent person should, tend to browse the web with Javascript disabled. I have tried using both the javascript enabled and disabled download pages.

The various check boxes for a ".tar.gz" format (so I can easily review what is being installed before installing it) yield *only* a ".deb" package. The "gentoo" options do not appear to yield a user add-on "ebuild" capability (which is how Gentoo packages should be distributed).

If you want people to test your product you need to provide downloads that do not require jumping through hoops to get them.

I tried testing Opera 8 (as distributed from the Gentoo packages and found it to be problematic).

I am unhappy with Firefox due to the excessive memory usage and memory leak (heap abuse) problems and am looking at alternatives. But Opera isn't going to get my attention *unless* you make the downloads work correctly.

:-(

I'm loving it. To me the new features really aren't new, because I've been using the beta builds since the beta started, but damn, Opera 9 final comes across polished, fast, working, and better than ever

It's far from perfect, as always, as problems still remain, but Opera 9 final is one fiiiine release

Congrats!

Could someone tell me what all the fuss is about? I have used Opera since 1999 but lately it's becoming a bloated cow and I prefer using Firefox now over Opera. What's the big deal, please? It never seems to render properly, there are too many "tweaks" that will change the browser without your knowledge, a LOT of websites STILL are not "Opera-friendly", the number keeps going up but I STILL don;t know what the big deal is.

I've been with Opera since v. 6 (or earlier). Paid for it twice. Now, with v. 9, I am leaving Opera. After a few hours of use, Opera 9 is no help to me on my dialup connection (all I can afford retired), the file size is much larger (what's with that?), and now Bit Torrent and Widgets nonsense is forced upon us. No thanks. Opera was fine but you've ruined it. I will keep using v. 8.54 as long as possible, but v. 9 is a big leap backward in speed and ease of use. Not only that, your website has suddenly become far more difficult to navigate and slow to use. A sad farewell to Opera from a longtime fan.

Thank you all who made this possible! ;)

Awesome, good work guys. One of the biggest releases yet!

I should pull out my Opera v3 disk just for an olde-times-sake laff. ;-)

Alexei 21. June 2006, 00:49

Darn it, Opera! I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it...

haugefarm 21. June 2006, 00:51

Just a simple browser, speedy, reliable, no frills, fits on a floppy, cost you $35 (did ME), fun to use.....now we've got widgets, file sharing, cascading drip pans, funky skins that don't look right, size this, size that, new and improved muffler bearings and Johnson rods, I can't find a "theme" or skin that doesn't look like garbage with a hodge-podge of different style buttons or colors. Sorry, but I'm outta here. Everything Opera was is no longer. The menus have changed, who knows where a feature or preference pane will be found, email doesn't work half the time.....did Microsoft buy a majority share in Opera?
And what is this "too cool" website nonsense? Are you appealing to a certain demographic? I think I will, too, pull out my old v3 disk...not for a "laff", but to actually USE. And the guy above me is right, too...."One of the biggest releases yet".....that is so true. A little TOO big. Now where's my floppy disks? Oh, they're over by my trusty old Pentium II, where Opera FLIES! Maybe I'll put on a VINYL RECORD, too.....

I don't feel Opera 9 was ready for RC1 even. It saddens me to see it released so soon. Opera 9 is very buggy. I believe this is very bad for those switching to Opera now. If Opera 9 was my first Opera experience, I would never use it again. There are too many far reaching bugs that make it a pain in the @ss. I have been using it since 7 and don't mind beta testing Opera 9 but it is/was, in my opinion, not ready for release.

Adam Dziura 21. June 2006, 16:25

This version is very bad - three bugs is terrible:
*no video on some pages
*non closed flash popups
*in some upgrades users have a clean install...

I want for a new wersion - with fixed this bugs...
