For some ethnic groups, women who are not excised are considered as impure and unable to control their sex drive.
Others believe that the clitoris can poison men or the baby to be born, or that it can poison the penis during sexual relations.
Others think that the clitoris is a male organ which must be cut so that the little girl can become a real woman.

By signing this petition, you express your indignation and support the proposal that Respect-ev submits to the institutions to stop this practice.
A press campaign will be organized to promote the petition on the « 5th Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilations », in February 2008.
It will be aimed at Europe through the press and, according to our means, country by country, to the Ministers of National Cooperations.

The estimated number of women who are mutilated around the world is 130 million.
3 millions little girls are exposed to this barbarism every year.
The age changes from one ethnic group to another.
Indeed, the operation can be made either on newborn babies, teenagers, just before marriage or after the birth of the first child.
In general, it happens before the first menstruation, between 4 and 12 years old.

I have signed the petition.Today it was in news in India that a Dailit(opressed) woman who was raped one year ago in Baitul district in Madhyparadesh state in India,committed suicide in front of the district collector's office.She suicided coz she tried to register an FIR against the culprit for one year but the casteist police didn't register the FIR.Dalit women face three times more atrocities than other women.
