Widgetize! blog

not made with actual magic

There'll be some changes done

We've made some changes to the widgetize services, and thought some of you might be interested.

  • We made a widgetize userjs1 which automatically creates a widget icon for any site with a feed icon
  • The widgets are now served with their title as filename, should you choose to download it to disk.
  • They also come with an option to disable animations.
  • We've ruthlessly recoded certain parts, allowing us to halve the number of simultaneous animations and improving the resizing.
  • There's a new skin for the Advanced reader, for those who find the My Opera skins are not exciting enough.
  • And also numerous changes to the magic2 creating the widgets.

These are only minor fixes, obviously. The main update should be revealed in the near future.
Hint: Try checking out your photos. Or your friend's.

1 Try this tutorial if you're new to userjs.
2 Widgetize! is still not made with actual magic.

Disabled animations??? Yes!

BTW, sometimes the widgetized feeds were showing no posts (minimized and expanded showed the widget's title bar). Would the changes have fixed that?

I have never experienced such a problem myself. Do you have a link to a widget that triggers it?

I think it's more a problem of not responding after leaving it up for a few days, it didn't happen before that. I've seen it happen on my opera blog.
