Finalists to win a Nintendo Wii and DS Lite!

, , , ,

The first part of our contest to win a Wii has now come to an end! We're extremely impressed with all the creative widgets submitted. It's now time to step it up a notch as we're closing in on a new proud owner of a Nintendo Wii yes

We were forced to make some adjustments according to the original deadlines. Therefore the timeline has been changed to:

January 18th: Polls open for the whole community from this post.

January 25th: Polls close at midnight your time on January 26th.

January 26th: The winners of a Nintendo Wii and DS Lite are revealed.

Since there were so many good submissions we couldn't narrow it down to a list of only five finalists. The jury thought long and hard, but failed to agree ... We have a total of six finalists up We now leave it up to the community to decide the winners!

As of today (January 16th) we invite the community to review the widgets. You can contribute by writing a blog post, commenting on all of the finalists, and then link your review as a comment in this post. We strongly advise everyone to take part in this, as the voting for the best widget will be done by the My Opera community.

A quick review of all the widgets- I'm spending more time with each of them and consider this to be a "first impressions" review, but I picked my two top dogs:

Eddie,

Thanks for reviewing my widget. I am not sure what you mean it stopped downloading for you. It could have been that the server was down for an upgrade. I am in the process of moving the server side files to a larger server in the coming weeks. Please let me know if you found the other buttons working for you. I will add a hover over the scrolling song title. I hope to add a complete player to the widget if I can figure out active x is possible in the widget. Thanks again.

ActiveX is IE only.

That is what I figured out as I read more about how bad active x can be. I wouldnt want it in Opera. I just want to embed a aac+ player down the road. I figured out an mp3 player, but have to wait on my server to be set up to stream 128k mp3. Thanks zomg for the comment. I read more after I posted and found out from other Opera forums why Opera doesnt want it.
Have a great day.

I've posted my lengthy commentary on all the finalist widgets here:

Good luck to all!

skid94-

I did the review from a different computer than the one I installed all the widgets on, at the time I was writing the review I couldn't get the widget to "install" ... I'm not sure if the Opera servers had a hickup or what. That's why I didn't get a screenshot of yours and I had to go off of some simple notes I took and memory.
