Cosine of the Times

It seems people are turning Opera into more than a browser...it's now a full fledged math tutor. I noticed several widgets this week with math themes: Benjamin Joffe's 2D function widget, Holger Will's Mandelbrot Explorer and this week's winner, the Functions 3D widget by Benjamin Joffe.
My greatest contribution to geometry was avoiding it, but this widget makes graphing equations cool and easy. I love the way it updates as you change variables, exponents, etc. If some student wanted to get ready for the SAT, Abitur or A-levels, this is a fine tool to use. For me, it's just something to while away the endless hours spent in meetings.
So congratulations, Benjamin. Yet another ThinkGeek package is on its way to you. Our widget bandit is back! We missed you.
In my next post, I will reveal the Grand Prize...
