This is an update to the blog post I published on March 17, 2011, titled "Blank Windows calander gadget (Win7 and Vista)".

The calander is back in its full glory

Today's release of MS11-081: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer: October 11, 2011 seems to have fixed the problem.

The update bumps the update version of Internet Explorer 9 to 9.0.3 as shown below.

If you haven't done so, go to http://update.microsoft.com to fetch and install the updates. Install ALL the updates. On a side note, the update patch 8 bulletins, two of which are marked "critical" meaning that the exploit which the update patches could be used to take over you PC.

Microsoft releases out of band update for Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool

For reasons unknown, Microsoft has released an out of band update today. It included one update: Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (mrt.exe). It may be worth to update your PC at the Microsoft update website at http://update.microsoft.com (Note: yes I know Windows 7 and Vista does not update via the site but visiting the site would launch the Windows 7/Vista update mechanism.

Update: Microsoft replied:

Adobe release version a new version over the weekend. The update issued over the weekend is designed to patch a cross site vulnerability used by hackers trick users into clicking on a malicious link delivered in an email message.

You can get the latest version at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. Direct download is at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller.

This patch is issued across all platforms, not just Windows. Mac, Linux, and even Google Android users are affected. You can visit a page on Adobe's website to determine which version of Adobe Flash you are running.
