Photography and Art

I am asked quite often if photography can be art. My response is always the same, yes it can be. The tools used to create the artwork are different than what is considered more traditional art but the end result is the same. An image that is not only beautiful, but one that can also inspire. The word photography is derived from the greek words "phos" meaning light and "graphis" meaning stytlus or paintbrush. Together meaning light painting. Thus my header, "The Art of Painting With Light" for that is what photography is. Instead of using pigment or paints, I use light to create my artwork. 
I hope that as others see the world through my eyes by looking at my artwork they are able to see the beauty that is the world we live in.
